Erzebet Medusa Falguerra
“It is not the experience of today that drives us mad; it is remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring”
Erzebet Falguerra has always been trapped in a world of absolutes. Growing up, shades of grey were never something she had the luxury of experiencing. At home, things were either right or wrong, and her parent's anulled their marriage in a fight to the death, based off of the fact that they were not able to peacefully resolve their opposing views on blood purity. At the orphanage, Erzebet felt punished by being seperated from her sister, believing that it was her own foul treatment of her when they were little, coupled with her inability to help her parents, that led to the disolution of their family. She was reminded constantly that life was not fair, for while she and her sister were parentless, in an orphanage, the spawn of Death Eaters roamed free. The unfairness of this caused her to grow into a bully in school, and this bitterness would affect every personal relationship she had in her life from school to her employment with the Ministry.
Friends
"The worst solitude is to be destitute of sincere friendship"
Erzebet is not an easy person to become close to. She is a bitter, surly individual. Since the first few years of her life were spent watching her parent's marriage disintigrate due to pure blood values, she dislikes people who make their blood purity views known in a public manner, in her mind it is them being selfish for attention. She really doesn't like people who seem like they're willing to sacrifice family for attention or profit. She did not have the chance to make a lot of connections growing up, due to how often she was moved and seperated from her family, so anyone who wants to be friends with her will likely be able to understand loss or feeling alone. She never got over being seperated from her sister after the death of their father and incarceration of their mother, even now she is constantly afraid that she will be forced to lose her again. People who can appeal to that vulnerability of hers could likely find themselves with an unlikely associate (or a patsy/fall guy). But the only person who she overtly trusts and openly cares for is her younger sister.
She feels a sense of camaraderie with people who she works with, as well as aurors and the like. She is more likely to trust them than anyone else. She shows respect towards Hogwarts teachers, since they taught and protected her growing up, and will do the same for her sister. Anyone who was able to befriend her in school will likely be able to achieve some manner of friendship now, as long as she doesn't know about any extreme allegiances. People who were sorted into Slytherin will likely have the best chance to rekindle any old school friendships, since that was her house. People who play sports or quidditch will definitely have something in common with her, leaving room for possible friendship or mutual respect. People who share her interests or like shoes will get to see a more positive side to her.
Enemies
"It is the enemy whom we do not suspect who is the most dangerous."
Enemies could include anyone who disapproves with her methods, coworkers who find her difficult to get a long with at work, it really isn't hard to get on her bad side. In fact, all anyone has to do is be overtly happy, and they will likely earn some sort of envious dislike on her part. It isn't fair, but she's lost a lot in her life and feels bothered by people who 'have it all'. Braggarts do not get on well with her. She is frustrated at work due to what she sees as too much "red tape", so people who agree with the Ministry's "strategy" of denial probably aren't on her good side. Due to her growing up as a bully, people who she tormented likely could resent her for that even now.
Death Eaters are a interesting case for her, because she was so easily seduced into their circle during her years at Hogwarts. Now it is a case of protesting too much, in fact, she doesn't disagree with their views as much as she should, nor does she disagree with their methods. This is despite the fact that she makes sure it is known that any known Death Eater has a high chance of being destroyed in her vicinity. She is frustrated by Death Eaters who got away with the imperius curse defense after the First War, and she often displays open animosity towards them now. Their children only get a reprieve because they are children (especially because she understands what it feels like to see your parents risk themselves for an ideology), but even then, in her mind the only good Death Eater is one that is smouldering on the ground after being introduced to a reducto. She is genuinely afraid that they will attempt to recruit her or her sister, to replace the ranks lost when her parents turned on each other. She is also afraid that they will come back to call on her for promises made when she was a lot younger and a lot more angry with the world. Any known Death Eater (or person with blood supremacist sensibilities) who she catches near her sister will be met with the highest amount of animosity she can muster without causing physical harm. A good metaphor would be a dog that is tied to a tree. She runs as far as it can stretch, before being held back, barking and growling at anyone who passes by. Eventually the rope will snap.
Romance
"Calamities are of two kinds: misfortune to ourselves, and good fortune to others."
Erzebet isn't the typical romantic person. She doesn't go out of her way to find romantic partners or go out on dates. Although she could identify as bisexual, she hasn't really pursued anyone of either gender in recent years. She would be confused by overt attraction, if only because her personality made it seem so foreign to her; most people don't go for angry, bitter, sullen women, right?
