noises i play within my head
touch my own skin and hope that i'm still breathing

At this rate of smiling, her cheeks were going to hurt for days! She couldn't remember the last time she'd smiled this many times in such a short span of time. It was refreshing, and really quite lovely. "Fred," she said as she lowered her head, taking a deep breath to steady herself. "I'm sure. I don't know why I'd ask anyone else if I have you on my side. I'd have to be daft, or be completely uninterested in exacting my prank revenge." She could only imagine what the twins were capable of when it came to pranking. They were, of course, the kings of it at Hogwarts, and likely would be regarded as such for years to come. But it was not only their reputation, but their imaginations that had Sura convinced that these were the men for the job. They were creative and imaginative in ways that no one else could hope to be. So why wouldn't she want them on her side? Fred's eyes had dropped for only a moment to her basket of chips, a low peal of laughter in his throat. Sura smiled and pushed the basket to the middle of the table, gesturing to the contents. "Please, have at it. I had a big breakfast, and I'm getting full. Can't have this go to waste, right?" Sura smiled coyly, popping one of the smaller chips into her mouth. Still heavenly, but she was getting undeniably full. A little more food and it would be uncomfortably so. The prospect of getting to cook in an actual kitchen again was exciting to Sura. The only cooking she had done of late had involved marshmallows on sticks with chocolate. Not to say that she didn't enjoy the food at Hogwarts, of course; it was delicious, and she missed it when she was away for the summer. But once in a while she liked to cook something for herself; a meal, a snack, a nice loaf of bread. Anything, really. It was a way to get her mind off of other things. Fred declared his seriousness with a wink, causing Sura to smile. "Well alright then, if you insist. Give me a date, time, and place, and I'll be there. I promise that your location of choice will not burn down under my watch," she teased, returning his wink with one of her own. Sura liked the way that the corners of Fred's mouth tugged upward when a small smile was trying to make its way onto his face. She widened her eyes and placed a hand over her heart, blinking twice. "Oh, I do so swear." He was teasing her, and she knew it. It wasn't malicious though, not in the least. It was the kind exchanged between friends, and Sura liked that concept. Friends. She shrugged, chewing thoughtfully on another chip. Love was just a funny concept these days. She liked it, though. It presented a kind of hope, a kind of comfort. It was nice to think of having someone that wasn't related to you watching your back like that, to have someone want to make you smile and shield you from all the things that might hurt you. It was a little risky now, of course: if you bumped shoulders with the wrong person in the wrong way, it could put the one you loved the most at risk. But maybe some things were worth the risk, to have lived it even for a little while. She was naive to the experience, though certainly not closed off to it. "Well I say never mind what other people think. If you're both happy, then they'll just have to live with it," she said with a small, wistful smile. Again, Sura shrugged with a smile. "I'm sure I will. Something is going to have to give eventually," she chuckled. She gave her head a little shake, trying to dislodge such thoughts from her head. That future was still a ways off, and she much rathered to contemplate things that were closer to happening than having to do real, adult jobs. She was not nearly done with being a mischief-maker, even if some of her mischief was starting to become a little less child-ish. "But on to other, less stressful things. When might I be able to drop by your shop for a little consultation, hmm?" Her eyes glittered mischievously, a smirk tugging on the corners of her lips. She was quite excited to make this happen, as soon as possible. 780 WORDS , Fred |
