Trips to Hawaii were incredibly expensive, even for wizard means of travel, not to mention the amount it would cost you to take a plane. Muggle travelling means were ridiculously expensive, but her mother had tried to explain to her that it was costly to maintain all those incredibly complicated devices that worked without magic but did the most peculiar of things, making it SEEM like it was magic. When the family from Hawaii had been visiting this summer, they had of course picked them up at London Heathrow and during that time, Eirian had taken the opportunity to find out how much a trip that far away would cost her around 700 pounds, which she knew was around 140 Galleons. 140 Galleons just for the transportation?! She would definitely have to ask her parents what the preparation of the Portkey had been charged for, but that seriously couldn’t have been that much, right?! Then an idea occurred to her. “You know what, next time my family decides to go, just ask if you can co-use it for a small fee? One person more or less shouldn’t be the problem.” Of course she would have to check that with her family first, and it might not be the most logical thing to do… or was it? Suddenly Eirian felt a little confused. Such an impulsive offer normally wasn’t her at all. But then, he most likely wouldn’t take her up on it anyway, right? If she wasn’t being logical, maybe he would instead. Then again… it wasn’t like she had just asked him to spend a holiday with her and her family… he would merely be sharing the lift, just like a hundred people shared a similar plane and most likely would never meet until they flew back. A slight chuckle escaped her lips as she watched Vincent’s quick encounter with the drunken man. She might not understand how people could be drunk at this time of day, so much apparently that they passed out, but at least this one was harmless. It was just too funny a picture to see Vincent hold the man’s head up just so he could wipe the bar and then gently lay it down again. It showed a great deal of confidence, but also some kind of caring. He certainly had found the right job here. Sadly the pleasant and calm times seemed to be thoroughly over. With simmering annoyance, Eirian watched a few students slip out of the door as to not get involved into anything. Had they even paid for their butterbeers yet?! Cowards, come back! She wanted to yell after them, but then she could hardly force them to get involved in a fight. It just would be far more helpful if Vincent and her had a few more people on their side. Two against two wasn’t very favourable concerning the circumstances. And it seemed to get worse instead of better. Vincent seemed to have met quite a match in the one drunk punk, and the other was still holding tight to Eirian. And now the other was coming over as well. “Thanks for holding her for me, pal”, he laughed. “Is she goin’ to be our prize or what. Looks a bit young, if you ask me.” “But she’s got a pretty face. Looks foreign somehow.” Eirian rolled her eyes and kicked backwards. “You know, it IS very demeaning to talk about a human being as a prize. And it’s not very logical either… cause before you can have whatever price, you first need to win something. I can’t see you winning anything here.” As if on cue, Vincent seemed to have recovered from his repeated smashing into a wall – good grief, that guy could take a lot, she had to give him that – and Eirian threw him a thankful and slightly apologizing glance as he pulled the two rogues away from her. It was just too typical… once again she was being judged by nothing but her face. But… that could also work to her advantage, right? They didn’t seem to see her as any threat at all, and it was about time she used that fact! "Yeah, your wand is gone," "What're you gonna do?" Gripping her wand tight, Eirian decided in a record time on what to do. Usually she took longer with that, weighing the pros and cons, but now time was seriously wasting. “What he’s gonna do?” she called out. “He’ll prepare to CATCH! Expelliarmus!” She didn’t know if her spell would be so powerful as to knock all three wands from their graps, and so as soon as the had fired the first spell, she let it be followed by the Jelly-Fingers-Curse that would make it impossible for one of them to hold on to their wands. © melly welly from caution 2.0 | LYRICS BY KATE VOEGELE OUTFIT: HERE | 811 WORDS | NOTES: sorry for the ramble |
