noises i play within my head
touch my own skin and hope that i'm still breathing

She winced as she stirred, rubbing her eyes and yawning. How could it already be time to get up? Sura rolled onto her side so that she was facing away from the onslaught of light that was trying to attack her eyes. The bed was simply too comfortable and too warm to go anywhere right now, wasn't it? With fall finally settling in, the castle had started getting cooler. More than once this month she had woken up with a lovely warm fire set in the fireplace across the room set by the elves. Considering how light of a sleeper she could be, she was always impressed that the elves could get in, do what they needed to do, and get out without ever being heard. She pulled a chunk of her comforter up to her face and nuzzled into it, sighing. It was probably a good time to check what hour she had managed to stay in her slumbers until. She was supposed to meet with Eirian to attempt to learn to play Quidditch. Attempt was the operative word in that sentence. It wasn't that she couldn't fly -- on the contrary, she was quite good at it, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The problem lay with the fact that she hadn't yet figured out how to catch and hold onto something while flying and dodging other players and Bludgers. She wasn't completely inept when it came to co-ordination, she just hadn't put everything together at once in her head when it came to Quidditch. She could catch fine, and fly quite well while holding something. So maybe it came down to the adrenaline of the being chased, and the scattered feeling she got from it. Who knew? All Sura knew for certain was that the parts of today were likely to be hysterical, bordering on just plain sad. Steeling herself, she rolled back to her other side and squinted out of the crack in her curtains that the light was seeping in through. The clock said 10:30. "Well that was better than I thought that was going to go..." she muttered, yawning widely. She rubbed her eyes with one hand, pushing herself into a sitting position with the other. The air around her was less terribly cold than she had expected it to be. She paused, the sound of the fireplace confirming her suspicions. That meant that she was really going to have to dress warm today if she didn't want to freeze and fall off of her broom. She grabbed her robe off of the nearby bedpost and wrapped the fluffy fabric around herself, snuggling into it. Sometimes it was completely worth spoiling yourself with something like this. Fluffy bathrobes only made bathing that much more enjoyable. Once she was properly wrapped up, Sura crawled out of her blankets and towards the end of the bed. She pulled her trunk open, leaning over the lid to see inside. She rummaged through, attempting to not make an absolutely massive mess of the organization. Life was so much easier when things were neat and tidy, but boy was it ever a pain in the arse to get it that way. She finally found her sweater and yoga pants, throwing them onto the bed behind her. After smoothing out the clothed in her trunk, she closed the lid. Time to get up and get to business. Sura sat back and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, hopping down to the warm stone floors. Yet another pleasant feature of the Hogwarts dormitories. Cold feet first thing in the morning definitely had the ability to put a damper on even the cheeriest of moods. Twenty minutes later, Sura was standing in front of her mirror finishing her braids. After securing the last one, she pulled on her sweater and walked back to the bed to pull on her sneakers. She had absolutely no idea about what Eirian had in mind for today's activities, so comfortable shoes were likely her very best bet. The kind she could run in. Her Nimbus 2000, a gift from her parents for her birthday after she crashed her last broom, was leaning against the wall beside her bed. It wasn't the fastest broom on the market any more, but boy could it go. It was quick enough for her, got her where she wanted to go, and was extremely well tuned and easy to handle. For her needs, she really couldn't ask for much more. The light from the fireplace flickered in the lacquered handle, and for a moment Sura was mesmerized. A moment later, she shook her head, clearing it. It was about time to get going, according to her clock. They had arranged to meet at 11:30 on the pitch, which meant she had a little over a half hour to get down there. The walk was a bit of a pain, so it was always a good idea to leave early. Besides, she could grab a bite of breakfast on her way down. Sura walked towards the pitch, chewing happily on a slice of buttered toast. The day's air was a little cool, but she felt quite warm enough in her sweater. If not, she could always Charm it to keep her warm. She licked her fingers after the last bite, looking up into the trees. There wasn't much wind today, which would mean the cool air would be a little more forgiving. She also wouldn't have to worry about anything getting blown off course and knocking her in the side of the head. Also a bonus. As she reached the edge of the pitch, Sura threw her leg over her broom and kicked off without hesitation. The wind rushed through her hair as she rose, and was pleasantly refreshing. At least she would be fully awake for today. She leaned left, then right, swerving lazily through the morning air. She had not realized how much she'd missed flying; school seemed to have been in the way lately. She leaned forward and quickly picked up speed, weaving in and out of the goal posts. This was something she was going to have to remember to do more often. 1069 WORDS , Eirian , OUTFIT , Hooray for flying! |
