He was the 6th child born to Arthur and Molly Weasley. He has five older brothers (Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, and George), and a single younger sister (Ginny). Ron and his siblings grew up at the Burrow, on the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole, Devon. Though they were not a wealthy family, nor were they well-treated by many other Pureblooded families, they made up for it in a loving childhood. He and his siblings spent many fond years playing Quidditch and flinging gnomes from their mother's garden. Ron was a particular pranking target for his older siblings, Fred and George. Their family was extremely close, spending much of their time together. Every Weasley child was doted on as much as Molly and Arthur could afford, and they were all fiercely loved. Ron and his brothers are extremely protective of their younger sister, even though she often protests when they intercede. Ron is particularly not fond of seeing his younger sister dating, even when she is involved with his best friend, Harry Potter. In 1991, Ron began to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was on his first train ride that he met the two people that would shortly become his best friends, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. Though he did not get along with Hermione immediately, and in fact was quite annoyed by her, he and Harry became fast friends. Though Ron was awed by the fast that Harry was the Harry Potter, he overcame his starstruck feelings and began what would become a wonderful friendship. Just before the Sorting Ceremony, he became formally introduced to Draco Malfoy, who would become one of the people he hated most at Hogwarts. Though they both knew of each other by family name before hand, their first meeting only solidified the distain that Ron had for the Malfoys and all other self-entitled Purebloods. Ron was sorted into Gryffindor house along with Harry and Hermione, just as his siblings and parents had been in their first years. Though incredibly lazy at times (much to Hermione's absolute dismay), there were some areas of his schooling that Ron particularly excelled at. Defence Against the Dark Arts was a class that he had always enjoyed, and he became more and more interested (and practiced) in it as times got darker. He also found quite a bit of success in his ability to cast charms. In his second year, he was able to cast a Slug Vomitting Charm, though it did backfire on him as a result of his broken wand. By his fifth year, he was quite adept at casting both the Confundus Charm as well as the Patronus Charm. The latter charm manifests itself in the form of a Jack Russell Terrier. Though he has not admitted it to anyone at this point, particularly because of his insecurity that he is only second-rate in comparison to Hermione and Harry, Ron hopes to one day become an Auror. Throughout the years, Harry, Hermione, and Ron became closer and closer. It seemed that almost one a year they had a brush with death or Voldemort himself. These encounters only strengthened his fierce loyalty and love for his friends and family. During their years at Hogwarts, as Ron's confidence grew, it became evident that his bravery is one of his strongest traits. He would rather put his life on the line and step into a dangerous situation than see someone he cares about put in harm's way. In his first year, he sacrificed himself on the giant Wizard's chess board so that Harry and Hermione could move on to stop Professor Quirrell from obtaining the Philosopher's Stone, for example. Though he does have many positive traits, some of Ron's personality is darker. Though he is considered by friends to be quite funny, he can be immature and sometimes insensitive. Words that were meant to be jokes can come out of Ron's mouth in a rather hurtful way at times. It is not usually his intent to cause someone harm by his words, though it has been known to occur more than once. He is short-tempered, moody, and often picks fights (sometimes resolving them with fists instead of words). His sometimes cranky nature has gotten him into several arguments with Harry and Hermione, sometimes lasting for weeks because is so proud. He is also quite lazy when it comes to school work. All of these traits have been known to absolutely infuriate Hermione Granger. His insecurity has effected him in social and sporting venues. Though he has always found a particular passion for Quidditch, his insecurity and nerves can keep him from top performance. This trait also surfaced when he approached Fleur Delacour in his fourth year to ask her to be his date for the Yule Ball. Amongst his moments of poor temper and insecurity, Ron has shown more than once that he is perfectly capable of outstanding performance in several areas. He is a tactical thinker and able to keep a relatively level head in even some of the worst situations. He prefers to apply practical and realistic solutions to problems rather than examining theory. This is something that sets him slightly apart from Harry and Hermione, and likely stems from the logical thinking he has garnered from his years of playing Wizard's chess. Throughout the years he developed a penchant for duelling, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms, and nonverbal magic. The latter is a skill that Ron has not yet perfected, but is actively practicing. Ron has had two wands throughout the years. His first, a 12", Ash, unicorn tail hair wand, was snapped in half by a run-in with the Whomping Willow in his second year, when Ron and Harry drove Ron's father's flying Ford Anglia to the school. This was after Dobby the house elf sealed the barrier to the train at Platform 9 3/4. Though he did manage to tape the wand back together, it performed poorly, obviously broken beyond magical or physical repair. After it backfired on Gilderoy Lockhart in the Chamber of Secrets at the end of that year, saving Ron and Harry from a Memory Charm, Ron's father bought him a new one. The new wand, 14", Willow, unicorn tail hair, is the one he still has in his possession. Like his parents and siblings, Ron has fiery red hair. His eyes are a bright blue, stark against his freckled but pale skin. Ron is tall like his brothers, currently standing at 6'1". His pale skin often betrays his emotions, as it often turns quite red when angry or embarrassed, especially around the ears. His only scars are from playing as a child, as well as some scratches and bites from his old rat, Scabbers, and several particularly feisty garden gnomes. When it comes to his greatest fears, it is very clear in Ron's mind. He suffers from arachnophobia, likely as a result from a childhood incident, in which Fred and George transfigured his teddy bear into a giant spider. In his second year, when told to "follow the spiders" by Rubeus Hagrid, he was quite dismayed, lamenting "Follow the spiders?! Why couldn't it be "follow the butterflies"?" When confronted with a Boggart in his third year, it transformed into a giant spider. He did manage to cast a successful Boggart-Banishing Spell, sending the spider flying on roller skates. The spider would later specifically resemble Aragog, the giant spider who lived in the Forbidden Forest. One of Ron's biggest passions is Quidditch. Whether it involves watching, playing, or reading about it, Ron will often be the first in line. In the summer of 1995, Ron received a Cleansweep Eleven as a congratulatory present for becoming a Prefect. This broom replaced his older Shooting Star, much to his pleasure. The Cleansweep is the broom he now uses when he plays Quidditch. He generally plays as Keeper, and, when he is able to get over his nerves, is quite good at it. When it comes to professional Quidditch, Ron is borderline obsessed with the Chudley Cannons. He owns several books and an obscene amount of fan gear and posters. He can recite statistics and facts about every player on the team on command. Now in his sixth year, Ron is fully aware that no part of the world, Wizarding or Muggle, is safe from the reach of Lord Voldemort. He is fearful, but fully prepared to follow Harry whatever happens, regardless of whether or not Harry requests it. This is a subject that he and Hermione agree wholeheartedly on, though Harry obviously has some reservations and objections to it. He is truly willing to follow Harry to the ends of the earth, should it be necessary. Though he does fear Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters, he does not let it control him or the actions he takes. Ron is willing to do whatever it takes to see his friends and family safe from such a terrible threat, even if it means putting himself in harm's way. lis || 21 || a loong time || female || sura && carrera |
