LIKES:
++ Scandals: Lysette is no true gossip-monger, but she loves to pick on people’s inabilities and slander them (without names of course) in her column. There she can live on her slight misantrophic streak and brand the blemishes of the wizarding society she thinks need to be mentioned.
++ Bars: This young woman is surely not averse to a drink or two, and she claims that in bars she can find out more about people and their ways, which in effect will sooner or later find its way into her next column. If she has a bad day though you better not try to chat her up, she will not react kindly to such advances then and might give that someone a serious dressing down. On a good day however… well, it’s a bar, right?
++ Mr. Fizz: For Lysette one of the few creatures she feels absolutely not judged by. From the first time he was there for her without a fuss, curling up beside her as she writhed in inexplicable pain, she has decided to love this arrogant furball. He’s getting old now, but she can’t imagine a life without him, which she would find pathetic in anything and anyone else.
++ Hogwarts: The time at Hogwarts was a good one for Lys, even though it might not have always seemed like that by her outward reactions. She liked the lessons and learning new things, even though she challenged her professors mercilessly and didn’t have many close friends.
++ Wizard’s Duel: After leaving Hogwarts, Lys joined a local duelist’ s club and has been there ever since. She enjoys the challenge and the opportunity to turn some of her aggressions into something sportive and positive. More often than not, her duels are known to be preceded by word duels and sarcastic remarks. It’s her form of ‘warm-up’.
++ Raw or almost Raw Meat: Gross, huh? Lys finds it gross as well, but she likes her steak extremely undercooked.
++ Weird Sisters: This band just rocks! She's been to many concerts already[/ul]
DISLIKES:
-- St. Mungo’s: In Lys’ eyes the healers at St. Mungo’s are a bunch of idiots and incompetent quacks, since they haven’t really found out what’s happening with her in ten years and insist on more and more tests. Every month, she finds herself again at their door, doing tests and begging for painkillers.
-- Her mother: Don’t get her wrong, Lys also loves her mother dearly, but there is just something about Suzanne that made Lys fight back and be insubordinate from the earliest age. It only deteriorated when Lys first showed the signs of her monthly recurring pain. Ever since then she was suffering under her mother’s overprotectiveness and fear, which she retaliated with escapades and cynicism.
--Rita Skeeter: Both work for the Daily Prophet, but there could be no two persons more different in their journalistic approach and their overall personality. Lys claims she gets sick from even just hearing this woman’s voice and calls her blond poison. It appears like this dislike is mutual.
—Clingy People: Lys is a loner, and she likes it that way. She needs her space and she needs time to herself, wants to decide for heself when she is social and when she is not. That of course results in quite a low number of friends or people who bear with her, but so far Lysette acts as if she doesn’t care at all
--Hangover:: One should think someone as ‘used’ to pain as her would look down on a hangover headache, but Lys wishes she would finally find a better working prevention that would enable her to drink and still not feel like crap the next morning
--Hypocrisy: Seeing people act differently like they preach or go against their words is like a red rag to her. Such people or incidents are prime targets in her column.[/ul]

OVERALL DESCRIPTION:
Lysette has a slender, but not too thin body she likes to keep active for and through her dueling lessons. Her curly hair is bright red and thick, falling down over her shoulders and, depending on when she can find time for a haircut, sometimes almost down to her midsection. Her face is ovally shaped and her eyes have a blue-greenish color, depending on how the light falls in them, and they are often seem to be squinted in annoyance or glinting tauntingly. Typical for her is also a slight derisive line in which her mouth is set , no matter if she is really displeased or just hiding behind this expression to mask her true feelings. Due to her red hair and pale skin, she can’t stay out in the sun for long, and gets freckles in summer. An eye-catcher is for certain the tattoo on the back of her right hand and around her wrist which she got herself at the age of twenty, showing thorny tendrils.
Concerning her outfits, Lys likes it in the rock style, leather jacket, tight fitting, but cut and torn jeans and a tight top that often shows her navel piercing. For her work, she uses the better looking trousers or sometimes even a plaid skirt with high leather boots, but this is as far as adaption goes, she hated the school uniform time even in hindsight, since she just couldn’t pull off the sweet schoolgirl act. Like described above, her favourite colors clothe-wise are red and black, even though she makes sure the red of her shirts doesn’t clash with her red hair. Since she loves the Weird Sisters, you can also catch her wearing their Tshirts or other accessories.

OVERALL HISTORY:
The story of Lysette St.John actually began long before she was born, with her mother’s story and beliefs. Suzanne Delacroix, daughter to Lucien Delacroix who had been born in Paris, but had emigrated with his parents at the age of three and Anne Delacroix nee Barrister had no idea of the magical world until she hit the age of eleven and was confronted with her Hogwarts letter and the guidance that came along with it. She adapted quickly though and while she was no absolutely brilliant witch, she showed a talent and deep interest in Care of Magical Creatures from her third year on, and she soon specialized in one certain species: Werewolves. Insisting that they should not be counted to threats and being talked about during Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons, Suzanne thought them to be highly misjudged and mistreated creatures who ought more to be pitied than persecuted for what they were. ‘Men, not Monsters’ was her slogan and she carried that all through her Hogwarts time, with the great goal of studying werewolves one day and redeem their image in society.
This goal developed into a well-nigh obsession, resulting in miscellaneous articles in various magazines and expeditions to places where werewolves were rumored to gather. That she was running high risks with that didn’t occur to Suzanne in her high idealism and pacifistic outlook on the world – even though times around her weren’t peaceful at all. It was said that the Dark Lord was working hand in hand with werewolves, which of course didn’t help with the bad opinions about werewolves in general. Suzanne, as a muggleborn and young witch didn’t even realize how much luck she got with her endeavours, remaining unscathed and mostly unbothered – until the day she crossed paths with a werewolf that didn’t want to be seen as a ‘misunderstood and good guy’, when she was only 20: Fenrir Greyback.
Suzanne had no idea that the rumors about Fenrir were true, that he tried to work towards an army of werewolves by biting as many people as he possibly could – and by ‘experimenting’ with breeding his own sons and daughters. When she met him, she still was convinced she could sway him and find a good core in him that would re-socialize him, turning his back on the Dark Arts and their Master, but Fenrir clearly had his own plans. Suzanne never told anyone about what happened, but she returned from this last expedition as a changed woman – gone was her bubbly, naïve excitement, gone was most of her positive outlook on the world. She completely dropped her case of changing the world’s views on werewolves, really, you wouldn’t recognize her by the way she spoke about them. When she found out a few months later that she was pregnant, she became even more solitary and took refuge into a complex construct of lies. Before her last expedition, she had been going out once or twice with a young, ambitious auror named Theodore St.John, but a few months after she returned, he was killed in a skirmish with Death Eaters, trying to arrest them.
To the world, Suzanne now told the story that she and Theodore had wanted to marry and that this child was his. Since he had been a solitary man with sparse contact to family and friends, no one challenged this story, and she even changed her last name to that of Theodore’s, claiming to do this in his honor, but in truth doing it to protect her unborn child from Fenrir’s grasp.
Lysette was born as a seemingly healthy and normal child, and Suzanne seemed a little consoled, thriving on her new role as mother. She overindulged her little one, but was even at her youngest years met with cheek and a wild attitude. Lysette refused to be mollycoddled and didn’t understand at all, why her mother would never let her go somewhere alone. Her big day came when her Hogwarts letter arrived and she couldn’t wait to finally learn more about magic and live together with her peers rather than just with her mother. Her first two years were rather unspectacular. After having been sorted into Gryffindor – after INSISTING it not be Hufflepuff! – she got quite an illustrious amount of detentions, but shrugged them off mostly, trying to go her own way.
The rapid change came shortly before Lysette turned thirteen. One evening, she was suddenly overcome with a growing pain in her groins, soon turning so hot and fervent she hardly could breathe. Curling up into a ball, she waited for it to calm down, intent on not crying out and fighting it down, but the pain only increased. It felt like some wild animal tearing at her stomach and pulling her guts out, and then the ache spread and wandered into her limbs, soon making it seem as if the bones were stretching and twisting, distortedly cutting through her skin – only that they didn’t. They weren’t even moving, it just FELT that way. At that stage, Lysette had long since lost all self-control, and her screams alarmed her dorm mates, who went for Madame Pomfrey straight away. As the pain didn’t subside however, she was put into St. Mungo’s for observation and her mother was called to her side. And in that moment Suzanne probably made the most momentous mistake of her life. Instead of laying all her cards on the table now – since she very well guessed what ‘infliction’ it could be that caused her daughter so much pain, she came up with another lie, telling that this must either be a strong form of monthly pains that ran in her family or the rest of a curse that Lysette must have absorbed in the battle when her father died.
Lacking the right clues, the Healers at St. Mungo’s were unable to find out the source of Lysette’s unusual illness. When it died down a day later, they all hoped fervently it would have been a one time occurrence, but already the next month proved them all wrong. The recurring pain was now Lysette’s faithful companion and never left her once, shaping her character also. Where she once had been mere insubordinate, she turned offensive, where she had been sarcastic and witty, she leaned more towards cynicism. She tried to play down the effects of the pain, but deep down inside she got mortally afraid of it, and dreaded the recurring date. Passing her NEWTs without glory, she then focused on one of her dearest passions: Writing. There she could combine her sarcastic wit with her ability to formulate and she applied for the Daily Prophet. After some unsuccessful tries with ‘normal’ articles, the editor-in-chief assigned her another format as an experiment and this is where Lysette found her place: In the column ‘St. John’s Sermon’, she picks out themes from the Wizarding World, commenting on them most of the time without mincing matters. She doesn’t have only fans of course and often gets Howlers into her office, but it’s not like she would really care.
Once every month, she is still rendered useless, but over ten years somehow got at least partially to terms with it, even though she really would like to know what the hell is wrong with her. As for now, Lysette doesn’t yet realize that most of her life is based on one big lie that was fabricated to hide her from the clutches of her father, who would undoubtedly stake claims on her once he knew she existed.
