It had not even been a full day since the visit with her husband and son had taken place in this very room. That meeting had not gone as planned, at all. "I don't need you." Her son's words echoed in her mind constantly. She knew they weren't directed towards her but they still made her heart ache and twist with sadness as if they had been. Lucius had tossed and turned in bed all night and Narcissa hardly slept as well. Draco was furious with his father and made that much too clear. Because of his fury and pride, his parents had learned very little about their son's well being and task. Narcissa had spoken to Severus beforehand about Draco but had gleaned very little from that meeting as well, other than more worry and anxiousness to speak with her son. None of that had been eased since talking with Draco, for obvious reasons. Needing to know what was going on with her son, Narcissa had sent word through Severus that Draco was to come home once more. She didn't tell Lucius about this visit, however, wanting it to be just her and her son. She knew that might have been selfish and wrong but Cissy wanted clarity and that could only come from Draco himself. His anger at his father hindered that from happening, so this was the only way she thought she could get some truth about everything. The time for Draco's arrival was quickly approaching and it only made Narcissa's anxiety grow. Her hands shook, her mind and heart were racing, and she couldn't keep the intense look of worry from her brown eyes. Her baby meant everything to her. Knowing that he was in danger was making her a wreck and deepened her secret loathing of the Dark Lord, which she hid just as well as every other emotion she felt. She wanted so badly for things to return to they way they used to be, before the Malfoy's fall from grace, before the Dark Lord was reborn. Those years contained some of the happiest of her life and Narcissa held onto them as tight as she could. The potential of returning to those times when her family was safe was what kept her going now. Even with her elitist attitude, Narcissa never saw the point of spilling blood. The Dark Lord's methods of gaining power were through death and fear. He would rip apart any one of his loyal followers should they become dead weight to him, which she had watched happen recently to Avery, a pureblood. Nothing about this war was right to her and Narcissa hated that her son and husband had been marked and were forced to fight for a Lord that intended for them to suffer. Narcissa was willing to take whatever measures necessary to ensure the safety of her son and husband no matter who stood in her way. WORDS: 507 . TAGGED: draco <3 . NOTES: sorry this took so long! |
