So its a dance? [Thread Two]

So you're at the Hogwarts Ball and the dance has started! It's time to get on the floor with your partner, or mingle by the drinking area. It's all pretty normal, for a dance anyway. Course, what at Hogwarts ever stays normal?

Objective: In this thread, two applicable characters will need to dance or converse by the drinking area. When the Mini Event strikes, make sure you don't trip on your feet! A secondary objective will soon follow!

NOT ANOTHER DANCE.

If Severus could have gotten away with patrolling the corridors tonight - as he had done for sixteen of the twenty something N.E.W.T. balls since his appointment at Hogwarts - Severus honestly would have been content. However this night was markedly different, in the fact that Severus had offered to chaperone this time. Albus had actually had to set down his tea and confirm he had heard correctly, which was a sign to Severus that the old man was slipping. Surely he was aware - to some degree - of the plots afoot within the school. Severus had personally reported on them three times already. How Albus could think for a moment Severus would not want to keep a very close eye on matters at this juncture was somewhat disconcerting.

This year would see Potter and his friends at the ball, as well as his godson and certain serpents that Severus was dismayed to have lost faith in. With Voldemort's gaze so firmly locked upon the children, a time in which Ministry employees and Hogsmeade citizens were welcome to attend the dance spelled all kinds of danger to Severus, who had no wish to be caught unawares. So it was that he had spent the beginning of this night at the door with the aurors, assisting in spot checks for contraband and potentially dark artefacts. After the twenty-third Weasly product and the eighteenth flask of alcohol, Severus had grown weary enough to slip to the refreshments stand.

Though he did not pour anything for himself, Severus did take the time to inspect the food and drinks suspiciously for tampering. He raised ladels enough to check content, and banished two punch bowls as a result. One had clearly been laced with firewhiskey, while the other smelled suspiciously of ansin, which boded ill for anyone who had already drank from it.

Shaking his head, Severus rubbed the bridge of his nose and resigned himself to the fact that tonight may well be entirely normal. Full of rowdy teenagers and a desperation to prank or drug something at some point for hilarity's sake. Protective though he may have been, Severus was not, by any means, a kid person when it came to this sort of affair.
