So its a dance? [Thread Three]

So you're at the Hogwarts Ball and the dance has started! It's time to get on the floor with your partner, or mingle by the drinking area. It's all pretty normal, for a dance anyway. Course, what at Hogwarts ever stays normal?

Objective: In this thread, two applicable characters will need to dance or converse by the drinking area. When the Mini Event strikes, make sure you don't trip on your feet! A secondary objective will soon follow!

Reward: 200 galleons upon thread completion!

Draco had not really been paying much attention to the ball buzz, beyond the fact that when Pansy had prattled on something or other about it, he had absent-mindedly assured her he would go. Social propriety dictated that he would now have to attend, or go back on his word, however it may have been given. Though the ball would have been a perfect opportunity to work on the cabinet, Draco did have to acknowledge his absence would have been conspicuous.

So it was that he finished straightening his tie and adjusted the lapels on his suit, for though he was not feeling overly interested in the dance itself, he had absolutely no wish to appear to a social function looking less than his best. Considering that Ministry members would be in attendance, he had even more need to appear absolutely collected.

Slipping on his family ring, Draco adjusted it comfortably but prominently upon his hand, making it clear in a subtle way that regardless of his father’s fall from grace, he was still proud to be a Malfoy. This, he felt, was an important statement to make in public right now, if only so that if it got back to his parents, they would not have any reason to feel hurt and would know that even now he supported them completely.

Draco took his leave of his dorm then and, when he did not see Pansy in the common room, promptly left without her. Either she was already at the ball, chatting with her dormmates, or she was still primping and though he said he would go with her, he at no point indicated he would dote on her. He never had, and he certainly would not start now.

Arriving in the Great Hall, Draco made one perfunctory sweep of the floor with his eyes and, not seeing Pansy, chose to make his way to the refreshments. He checked the punch with a sniff before setting the ladle back in and taking from a different bowl that did not smell as though it had fallen in from the Hogs Head. Goblet in hand, he turned to face the floor, tilted slightly toward the door so that if Pansy did ever deign to show up, he could at least feign some gentlemanly interest if only to keep the other vultures off him. Honestly, women were exhausting.
