That little old to do list was weighing Charity down. Every time she crossed one thing off the list she would add another three things. Did she ever have time to just stop and spend time on herself? No was the answer to that. Perhaps it was the result of having twin boys? They had a habit of causing trouble and if it wasn’t them, then it was their younger siblings. Charity sighed as she double checked her to do list. On the Brightside having almost grown up children meant she could entrust them to buy their own school supplies. Sure it was possibly a rookie mistake to give money to her children and expect them to spend it on the correct things, but what could she do? She was rushed off her feet. Not only did she have to purchase a tonne of resources for her classes next year but she had a meeting at the Daily Prophet about her new book.
Charity had always been a hard worker; she had tried to be a stay at home mum when the twins were first born, but she always had to be working in some aspect. She enjoyed spending time with her children, but her mind was always aching to be at work. Charity glanced up from her list; Diagon Alley was packed with Hogwarts students and families trying to get last minute supplies. If Charity had had any sense she would have come much earlier in the summer.
Although the streets were busy there was a sense of urgency about most of the shoppers, a tension in the air, as if they expected something bad was about to happen. It gave her the chills, she quickly put the list back into her jeans pocket. All she needed was a few books and she was done. Clutching at her other purchases she made her way through the tide of wizards and witches.
One wizard who seemed to be in a particular hurry knocked headlong into Charity, her bag falling to the floor and their contents rolling out. 'Damn!' She said loudly sending an angry glare at the wizard who was almost running down a side street. Wizards and witches pushed past her as she retrieved her wand. Honestly she thought, people would think you know who had come for a robe fitting the way people were reacting these days. It was the Daily Prophet that had them spooked. Reports of Muggle killings and the claims that Harry Potter was the chosen one. Charity wasn’t ignorant, she knew something most certainly was not right, but overreacting wasn’t about to solve the problem.
