I AM INVINCIBLE AS LONG AS I’M ALIVE
Since the start of term, Noah found that much in his life had changed. In fact, his life was changing rapidly before his eyes. Parts of it were lovely. Finally, he felt content and at peace with his relationship with Pippa. She made him better, and he was absolutely thrilled that they had taken their relationship beyond friendship. Not that everyone hadn’t thought it was going to happen eventually. It just felt completely and utterly right. There wasn’t a single person who understood him the way Pippa did. The changes that occurred with Pippa were brilliant ones. He wouldn’t take that back for anything. He was in love with her, and he couldn’t wait to see what the future might hold for them. Together, he doubted anyone could stop them.
Yet, his mind was clouded with other thoughts and worries. He was a seventh year. Before he was aware of it, he was going to pushed out of Hogwarts and into the real world. Noah wasn’t one to plan ahead. In fact, he was brilliant at procrastination. Therefore, as the term continued to creep along, Noah found himself sitting down a time or two and simply wanting to freeze time. If he could, he would stop in this moment forever. Noah wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life, in terms of substantiality. Of course he wanted to get married someday and have a family. But, that was still years down the road. He needed a job, and with that job, responsibilities. Noah never took well to responsibility. He’d spent most of his time at Hogwarts straying away from anything that dealt with commitment and responsibility. Now that he’d taken the next step with Pippa, he inwardly began to panic, wondering what he was going to do with his life.
Noah was easygoing and charismatic. He was easy to get along with, and he loved to be the center of attention. He didn’t want to be cooped up in an office somewhere. Being an auror would be interesting, but he also didn’t feel he was suited to do such. He planned on getting a job in the Ministry when he finished at Hogwarts, and perhaps work his way up in the ranks. It was somewhat political, and Noah felt that he was well-liked, and could easily move up in rankings. Perhaps one day he could be the Minister of Magic.
He was getting a little ahead of himself there. It was a brisk Saturday afternoon, and most students were off at the library for a few hours, or working in the common room on homework. He’d gone to practice quidditch earlier in the day, and now he found himself walking towards one of his favorite thinking spots. It was always quiet, much more serene and peaceful than the Black Lake, where students were sure to be milling around and enjoying each other’s company. He wasn’t sure what led his feet to the Whomping Willow today. Normally, Noah hated to be alone with his thoughts. He was an over-thinker, and he would eventually worry himself into complete terror. Today, though, something felt different as his feet automatically led him to his favorite spot to be alone. Only few people knew that he enjoyed going there, and those few were his close and most intimate friends. He was likely to not be disturbed, which was somewhat terrifying, knowing that he would be alone with his ideas and thoughts for some period of time.
Cautiously approaching the tree, he easily made his way to a spot where he sat down, and then lay back to gaze up at the large and rather vicious branches of the tree. They could do major damage. Over the years, Noah felt that he and tree had formed a type of friendship. He knew how to treat the tree as to not get smacked, though he’d had close encounters when he was younger. Placing his hands under his head, he stared upwards, sighing deeply. He could be there for hours, lost in his own mind.
