Alex flung his Healer robes back on over his clothing when he got the warning. He had been relaxing in the break room after he had to deal with a very fussy child. Long story short, one child had been playing with the parent's wand, and the other child had gotten hit with a spell that had shot out of the wand.

He entered St. Mung's with boils sprouting all over his body. Alex couldn't blame him for being fussy, though. Those boils could be pretty damn painful, especially at just four years old. He easily cleared up the boils, but he gave the parents a swift warning about keeping their wands away from their children.

Alex hated it when parents' stupidity caused their children to get hurt.

Just as he was about to settle into a nice cup of chai tea, one of the other Healers came rushing into the break room to ask for help. It was early in the morning, but there was a sudden influx of patients coming in. This happened at the hospital every once in awhile. Usually, it was pretty quiet in the early mornings, but there were times when the surrounding area was stricken with some bad luck and everybody was getting hurt.

"Sorry to pull you from your break, Alex, but we're too shorthanded for what's going on this morning."

"No problem, no problem. My tea needed to cool off anyway," said Alex with a grin and a shrug. After buttoning up his robes, he said,"Now, what'cha got for me?" He eyed the clipboard in the Healer's hand.

"Oh-oh, yes!" said the frazzled wizard, running a hand through his disheveled hair,"Patient in room B-18. Not too bad. Just a broken nose or something like that. If you could take care of her, that'll be a big help."

With a nod, Alex took the clipboard from his colleague and couldn't help but grin when he saw the name on the paper. Nymphadora Tonks. Shaking his head, he made his way down to the second floor to room 18.

Grinning as he entered the room, Alex walked up to the bed and hooked the clipboard to the foot of the bed. He looked up at the familiar face and said,"Fancy seeing you here. You in a lot of pain?"

At three o’clock in the morning, Nymphadora was not at all pleased to be rolling around in her bed, fluffing the pillows and wrestling with the blankets to just get some sleep. She had even turned up the heat, as she was chilly, and then turned it down once she was too hot. Exhausted with the sheer amount of effort it took just to be able to close her eyes for a second, Tonks decided to get up and just start her day early. She was actually not that tired, since she had taken a nap after work the day before. Tonks knew that the ministry was going to be just bloody awful today- Nymphadora was not looking forward to it.

She threw on simple clothes: a long-sleeved purple t-shirt, her work jacket with her wand, black skinny jeans and purple muggle sneakers. Who was she really trying to impress? No one, no one would see her out this early in the morning, but she just felt like looking somewhat presentable. After a spot of breakfast- cinnamon raised toast, lightly buttered with coffee- Tonks rummaged around in her closet for her broomstick. Her old, ratty, Commet 260 with a pink ribbon at the end was one of Tonks’ prized possessions. It still flew beautifully, and with a skillful flyer like herself, she was able to go quicker than most would be able to on an older broom.

When she was outside, she had to stop herself from shivering. It was a cold, crisp morning, and Nymphadora was ready to face it head on. That was her first mistake, seeing how the sun had barely begun to wake the rest of the earth. The young auror mounted the broom and kicked off, high into the sky. The wind pushed her hair back, dried her lips, and stung her eyes. Yet, she loved every bit of it.

As the dawn rose a bit higher, Tonks was now able to see where she was going better. But now she was tired. Now she wanted a break, and snuggle into the covers. As she thought of her nice warm bed, Tonks wasn’t exactly paying attention to anything around her. Therefore, her broom started going downward, and by the time Tonks realized, she had fallen to the ground. She was right in front of her apartment building too. Nothing with severely injured, just some minor bruising on her bum and arms is all. She stood up gingerly, and was making her way to her broomstick when she tripped over something, most likely a rock, and fell flat on her face. She let out a scream, and after hearing a crack, there was blood on the ground. She stood up, grabbed her broom, and tried to stop the bleeding with her hand, but it failed. Any normal witch would be able to fix this. Nymphadora, however, screwed up the easiest household spells in the book.

Which brings Tonks to her second mistake: trying to fix her nose herself, since she really couldn’t afford a big hospital bill. After pointing the wand at her bleeding nose and muttering a spell, the pain got worst and so did the bleeding. Now, not having enough money to go to the hospital didn’t matter anymore. Tonks just about mad her nose ten times worst. She apparated to St. Mungo’s, whichmade her nose bleed more……….

That’s how Tonks ended up in the hospital room this morning. She couldn’t help but blush when her friend Alex walked in. “Wotcher,” she said in a defeated tone. The next question she rolled her eyes at, “No, I feel just lovely. Besides the fact that I can’t breathe out of my nose, and this bill is going to cost a fortune, neither me nor my Gringott’s account are in any sort of pain.”

She sighed and dropped her bloody hand away from her face, hoping the broken nose wasn’t as bad as she thought. “Please, don’t tell anyone about this. I will never, ever be allowed to set foot in anyone hose again, they will think I am a klutz………..” She sighed, “Well they already know that I am but this is just more proof.”

Alex laughed a bit and leaned down to write something down on the clipboard that he had rested at the foot of Tonks' bed. The fact that she was the same old Tonks meant that whatever she did hadn't affected her mind. These were the things that he had to watch out for as a Healer. A broken nose could actually have a smaller problem hiding beneath the surface. But knowing Tonks, she had probably just tripped over something and landed on her face. Unfortunate, but true.

He raised his eyebrows a bit when he heard Tonks' comment about the money problems. Alex wasn't aware that she had money issues. "I'll see what I can do about the bill. Don't worry about that. Let's just get you fixed up," he said, winking at her. He didn't have a whole lot of power when it came to controlling someone's hospital bill, but there might be something he could do to lessen her's.

"Yeah, yeah, I won't say anything about it," he said, waving his hand, as if her request was ridiculous. Everyone knew very well of Tonks' clumsiness, so there really wouldn't be a point at keeping it a secret. Alex would do it anyway, of course.

When Tonks dropped her hand from her nose, Alex got a better view of it. He didn't show it, but her nose looked horrible. Not only was it covered in blood (and still bleeding) it was contorted into a shape that didn't even remotely resemble the nose that it used to be.

He moved towards her and carefully moved her face up, so that he could get a better view of the wound. "So-what exactly happened? Did you trip over your broom or something?"

Alex needed to know just what happened before he would be able to fix her nose. As he was analyzing her wound, he had a horrible thought.

"You didn't try to fix it yourself, did you?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

Tonks rolled her eyes when Alex laughed. In about a week or so this would be amusing. But today at this very moment it was not even remotely funny. She shifted uncomfortably, wanting to just be out of this hospital- she had already spent a good deal of the summer there recovering from an injury from her loving Aunt Bellatrix. Needles to say, Tonks was seeking revenge on that woman for the rest of eternity.

She managed a small smile, “No, you don’t have to do that. Really, I’m fine, just in a bad mood. Sorry.” She felt bad bringing it up, but with the way her hospital bills had been stacking up as of late, money was a bit tighter than she would have liked it to be. Not only that, she had a little less work now since she wasn’t qualified for some auror missions anymore. Her income seemed to be cut quiet drastically. She knew there was no reason to complain, her money issues could be worse. She still had a roof over her head.

Rolling her eyes, she pleased, “I am serious! Molly won’t even let me glance at fine china at her house anymore. Hell, even my mother is tending to be a bit more cautious than normal.” She started swinging her legs gently, for she was rather restless now and did not want to be sitting still for all eternity. She liked that Alex was her doctor, so she was a little less annoyed at sitting still. At least she would have someone to talk to that she knew well.

She looked down at her feet, and her now bloody outfit. She sighed, this was one of her favorite shirts, too. But the pain called her back to reality, and she closed her eyes when Alex was looking at her nose, not even wanting to see his reaction. She knew her face was probably as hideous as Voldemort’s right now, but she wasn’t about to make that comparison out loud. She lifted her chin up obediently, not wanting to put up a fight about Alex examining her nose.

“I did not trip over my broom!” Tonks said, offended. Tripping over a broom would be pathetic. No, she tripped over a rock that was jutting out from the ground. “I couldn’t sleep this morning so I went out flying… And I lost control of my broom because I wasn’t paying attention. I landed and got up to get my broom… Well there was a rock in my way and I thought it would be fun to do a face plant into the ground. So therefore, I didn’t trip….. Okay, yeah, I tripped over a rock.” She could never, ever, make her injuries sound like good ones. Tonks was not good at coming up with lies, ergo tripping and falling was generally the story everyone heard. Tonks hid her slight annoyance that Alex knew her well enough to just assume she tripped.

“Uh…..” Tonks had conveniently left out the part that she tried to fix her nose herself. “I may have, why it’s that bad?” She opened her eyes wide and groaned, “Tell me you can fix it. I know I shouldn’t try to do house hold spells, but I just didn’t want to come here again!”

"Nah, it's no trouble. I've got some favors to pull in, anyway," he said, pulling a stool over to Tonks' bed. Alex had an obsession with doing favors for people, so many people around the hospital felt that they should pay him back in some way. Normally, he really didn't bother collecting his favors because he didn't like to make people believe that they had to pay him back.

Alex positioned the stool next to the bedside table and plopped down onto it. "Calm down, Tonks, you're gonna make the bleeding worse," he said, waving his wand to summon some gauze. Not even a minute later, a small pile of gauze came flying into the room and hovered next to Alex. He turned and took one of the smaller pieces and ever so gently put it up to Tonks' nose. "Just for a little bit, until I know for sure how to fix your nose." He was pretty sure that a simple healing spell would do the trick, but he had to make sure. After all, he didn't want to disfigured Tonks permanently or anything like that.

He shrugged. "Y'know, if you're gonna be as clumsy as you are, you should kind of expect people to be cautious around you," he said, grinning.

"I can at least take care of that right now," he said, seeing that Tonks was looking down at her bloodied outfit somewhat sadly. Alex waved his wand and the blood disappeared from her clothes.

"You're right. I'm sorry, you're right, you're right. Tripping over a rock is much more graceful than tripping over a broomstick," he said, smirking at her. "Maybe in the future-don't ride your broom when you're tired, yeah? It just leads to disaster. Obviously."

"Yeah, yeah, I can probably fix it. What spell did you use?" He was still eyeing her nose, carefully turning her head this way and that, trying to get the full picture before he decided what he should do.

A small smile, as much as she could manage without making the pain worse, appeared on her face. “Thank you, that’s really nice of you. I owe you one.” Tonks hated asking for favors, and accepting if they were offered. Stubborn? Yes, very much so In fact, it was her deep rooted stubbornness that tended to get Tonks into trouble. Her smile faded gently, she was more worried about her face than any sort of money or favors at the moment. She closed her eyes again, feeling slightly lightheaded, but she chose not to say anything. She would just deal with the pain.

She heard the stool move beside the bed and sighed, she just hoped that she didn’t make it too much worse. “I am as calm as I can be for someone who might not have a nose because she tried to use a spell,” Tonks let out a chuckle, she knew it wasn’t all that bad, but with her luck today she wouldn’t be surprised if her entire face fell off.

Tonks winced a bit, but still didn’t open her eyes or say anything. Whatever he was doing to her was going to make her nose feel better. She didn’t like breathing out of her mouth, and it felt weird not being able to breathe out of her nose which caused her more discomfort. She stopped moving her legs and opened her eyes when she felt less light headed, and then closed them when she did again. “Ha ha, funny.” She said in an unamused tone, “But you know, it’s really not my fault! I was just born with two left feet is all. Blame my parents.” She shrugged a bit; it was always easier to put the blame on her mother. She tended to do that with her name too. She loved her mom, she really did, but she was a bit exhausting at times.

“Thank you,” Tonks didn’t open her eyes, but she felt her clothes that were still damp from her blood become dry. “If I would have done that my clothes would be stained permanently.” She was careful not to touch her clean clothing, as one of her hands was still covered in dry blood. A little soap and water would fix that in a snap, so she didn’t mind. “You know, by the end of this visit I am going to owe you a lot.”

“Well it is,” Tonks giggled and gave a smile, “You have no idea. No one trips over a broom! I have only tripped over one once, but rocks that magically juts out of the ground…. That’s graceful tripping.” She opened her eyes and stared at Alex, giving him a smirk and an eye roll, “Oh, thanks Dr. Alex, any other words of brilliant and obvious advice?”

Tonks felt her cheeks getting red, she didn’t want to tell him the spell she used. Eleven year old could even perform it decently. “Episky, but obviously it didn’t work out well.”

Alex eyed her carefully when he saw that she had shut her eyes for a moment. He had better hurry. She had lost a lot of blood, after all. He hoped that there was a pre-made blood replenishing potion in the supply closet. Even if there wasn't, he would probably be able to whip one out pretty quickly.

"Don't worry about it," he said, with a shrug. "Just do me a favor and don't come here as a patient at least for week, yeah? Think you can do that?" he asked, grinning down at her.

Alex laughed along with Tonks when he heard what she said."Well, even if that were true, you'd be able to change it anyway, right? Master of disguise?"

He put on a serious face when he heard Tonks' reply. "Right, right. Blame your parents for your klutziness. But I can still blame you for the trail of broken items you leave behind wherever you go." He was relieved to see that she had opened her eyes.

Alex was a little caught off guard when he saw Tonks blushing. She was awfully pretty when she had a little red in her cheeks...

"Alright, that's what I thought," he said, gently removing the gauze from Tonks' nose,"I can definitely fix that. He pulled out his wand and cast tergeo, causing the dried blood to disappear from her nose. "Episkey," was the next spell he cast and with some small cracking noses, Tonks' nose was back to normal.

"Now, I'll be right back. You're looking a little pale, I'm going to go get you a blood replenishing potion," he said, patting her on the arm before getting up and leaving the room.

Just a few feet down the hallway was the supply closet, which was actually the size of a small laboratory. Thankfully, there was one blood replenishing potion vial left over, so he grabbed it. Not bothering with getting a goblet, since it was so little, he took the potion filled vial back to Tonks' room.

"Alright," he said, uncorking the vial and carefully hand it to Tonks,"drink this and you'll feel a lot better."

Laughing, Tonks shook her head gently, “I can’t promise that, but I will try my hardest.” She gave a small smile, “But I am not sure... There could be more rocks around.” She kept the smile on her face, until her brought up her metamorphic abilities. She knew there were still people who didn’t know she couldn’t morph- that this was her real appearance. She didn’t chose to look like she did- with the short mousy brown hair and small, beady eyes. She sort of pulled away, a little hurt at the fact that it was still being brought up “I was drunk at a party when I said that, you don’t have to call me that.” She smirked a little, trying to think of a way to break the news to him without making her seem helpless, “Look, I can’t change my appearance anymore. This is actually how I look, so if my nose isn’t fixed correctly, then it might never be.”

Tonks didn’t want to make Alex feel bad for not knowing, so she made sure not to pull away again. Leave it to him to be able to make her burst out laughing, even with the pain, “You can be such a jerk sometimes, you know that? There is not a trail leading where ever I go. I am generally quick to leave the scene of an accident without a trail.” She was relieved when Alex took the gauze from her nose. She felt the dry blood disappear from her face, and just as she was about to say thank you- crack! Tonks’ clean hand flew up to her nose and tears filled her tired eyes, cussing under her breath. “That hurt! Damn it!”

After her little episode she thanked Alex and laid down on the hospital bed- utterly tired, nauseous, and lightheaded. She felt almost worse than she did coming in. She closed her eyes and curled up into a ball, her one clean hand reached for her wand and casted tergeo, the blood off of the other hand was gone. Her fingers traced over her nose, glad that this little nightmare was over. Unfortunately for her, she had to face work in a few hours.

Propping herself up on one elbow, Tonks took the vial, and after nearly dropping it, downed its contents. She made a slight face, demonstrating her disgust and then put the vial down on the table next to the bed. She pushed herself up more, and sat up against the wall, letting her legs hang off one side of the bed. “Honestly, Alex, thank you so much for everything.” She ran her fingers through her hair, “When do you get off of work?”

He put on a serious face. "You're right. The rocks are everywhere. In fact...I think they're plotting something," he said, looking around suspiciously. He ducked as if something was about to hit him on the head. "The rocks!"

Alex looked at Tonks confused when he heard that she could not change her appearance anymore. "Huh? What're you talking about?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. Being a Healer, he was fully aware of what might make a Metamorphmagus unable to use their powers. Normally, it was something emotionally traumatizing that they experienced, but...what had happened to Tonks that he hadn't heard about?

"What? When am I ever a jerk?" he said with an air of innocence. It was just a mask, obviously. He was perfectly aware that he could be somewhat of a jerk sometimes. But he really couldn't help it; some people made it so easy!

Alex quickly moved his wand away when he heard Tonks' outburst. He grinned only for a moment, but quickly stifled it. "I could break it again, if you would prefer," he said, with a slight smirk. He braced himself for a punch in the arm or something of the like.

"Sorry, I know it doesn't taste too great," he said, with an apologetic shrug. Alex'd had his fair share of blood replenishing potions in his life and he knew how horrible they could taste. Unfortunately, adding sugar or anything to make it taste better just negated the replenishing factors of the potion.

"Uh...," he said, pulling his sleeve up a bit so that he could see his watch,"In about an hour and a half. Why?"

Alex grinned as he saw the color come back into Tonks' face. He had been working all night and he really needed to get back to his apartment above the Leaky Cauldron to get some sleep. but, he couldn't seem to tear himself away from Tonks' side.

After a short moment of giggling, Tonks glowered at Alex. “Alex, have you been listening to my stories? Honestly, the rocks are jutting from the ground, not from the sky! You are just going to have to fly over everything.” Of course, this glower did not stay on her face long, just the thought of a rock invasion could set her into another giggle fit. She hated rocks, not because she hated inanimate objects, it was just the fact that they seemed to be the cause of most of her outside incidents. Yes, she did get injured over a rock more than once.

Tonks looked away from Alex, her eyes darting everywhere. She could either tell him the truth, or lie. Let it be known, a lie would be less of an awkward story if Alex wanted to hear exactly what happened. “Something happened,” Tonks said- giving a vague answer on purpose- and then continued, “One day I just woke up, and my metamorphic abilities just weren’t working. At all. I haven’t been able to get them to work.” She looked at Alex, her gentle face now covered with worry and sadness, “I don’t know if I will ever be able to change my appearance again.” She touched her short mousey brown hair, and hated everything about it. She wondered if Alex knew anything about metamorphmagi- she assumed he did since he was a healer, “Can you tell me something? Will I ever get my abilities back?” If he didn’t know, Tonks wouldn’t hold it against him. She would almost be grateful not to know.

She gave him a playful push, standing up when she felt better, “All the time Alex. You are the biggest jerk I have ever met!” The look on her face easily called her bluff, not that Alex would take her seriously anyway. Tonks was a very good sass, everything that came out of her mouth was generally a friendly joke. Then there was another playful push, “Try it. You break it again and I will have no problem hexing you into next week, Alex. And then again the next time I see you.” She knew he wouldn’t even dare breaking her now fixed nose, she would make his life a living hell.

“I didn’t mind it too much, I was going to have to take it eventually.” She may not have liked the taste, but there was nothing either of them could do about it. If she didn’t take it, then she would have felt lousy for a long time. Then she felt a smile tug at her lips, “Great! I am working a night shift later, do you want to catch a drink or something before I have to go?” Tonks did find Alex cute, but today she was looking for some time out with a friend. Lately, hanging out with friends had been scarce, and if they were both free in the afternoon, why the hack shouldn’t they do something? Tonks, however, wasn’t dumb. She didn’t want to leave Alex, she hadn’t laughed this much in weeks.

Alex laughed at the sound of Tonks' tinkling laughter. He much preferred this Tonks to the previous Tonks that was in pain, obviously. "Sorry, sorry, I got a little confused. Right. Rocks spring up suddenly from the ground, they don't fall from the sky. I'll have to make a note of that," he said, pretending to pat himself down for a pad of paper.

"This is very important and believable information," he said, pretending to hold out a quill and piece of paper, scribbling down the information.

He tilted his head to the side and analyzed Tonks. Alex had been a Healer long enough to know when somebody wasn't telling him something. Also, living with his roommate, Vincent was a pretty good lesson in when to know when someone was lying. The poor werewolf was such a horrible liar, after all.

Sighing, he sat back down on the stool next to Tonks' bed. There was something that she wasn't telling him, but he certainly wasn't going to push her to do so. If she wanted him to know, she would have told him already. "Well," he said, folding his hands in his lap,"since it's usually caused by some sort of...trauma-once you get over whatever happened, your powers should return to normal." He was choosing his words carefully, making sure to say 'when' instead of 'if. That would shed a light of negativity on her already bad situation, which was something Alex did not want to do.

"Alright, alright. I'll leave Miss Boss Auror Lady alone this time," he said, putting his hands up in a surrender motion. As if he had actually been serious about breaking Tonks' nose.

Alex's face broke out in a broad grin when Tonks asked him to have a drink with her, but he quickly stifled it. He looked down at his watch once again. "Yeah, sure I think I can make that," he said. Right, like he actually had to consider it. "Well, if you're feeling alright, go ahead and take this chart," he picked up the chart from the end of her bed and handed it to her," up to the front desk on this floor and they'll get you sorted out. We can figure out the bill issue later," he said, winking at her.

"I need to go check on some other patients," he said, moving towards the door,"but I'll meet you at the Three Broomsticks in about an hour and a half." He flashed her a grin before leaving the ward.

Alex apparated to just outside the Three Broomsticks. The bell above the door announced his arrival into the inn. He took a look around the room, looking for the familiar bright hair when he remembered what they had discussed at the hospital. After glancing around him a bit embarrassed, he walked further into the inn and found the girl he was looking for.

"You been waiting long?" he asked, pulling out a chair at the table at which Tonks was sitting.

“Correct,” stated Tonks firmly as she glanced at Alex, her look mischievous as ever. “It is important information, Alex. One day the rocks will take over and you will need to know where they are coming from. Lucky for you, I have informed you on their plan of attack.” Tonks was more than happy to joke around about a rock invasion, as rocks had been causes of some of her injuries besides the one that occurred that day. Bruises and small cuts were common effects that came after tripping over a rock. Although, getting sent to the hospital over it was indeed new. “If you forget you know where to find me! That is, if you can fly well.”

If there was an invasion of any kind (mostly a realistic on, like Death Eater’s invading... anywhere really) Tonks’ best move would be to fight from the sky. Her excellent flying skills was one of her biggest strengths. Tonks had been flying since she was a little girl, and ultimately found it much more exhilarating than other forms of travel.

A sighs escaped her as she listened closely to Alex. “So I will get better then,” she confirmed more to herself than to Alex. She didn’t know if she would ever get over Remus, as he was such a big part of her life. She saw him often in the Order meetings, and not only that she loved him so much that when they were in a room together it felt like she was alone with him. Of course, this was never the case.

“Yes, you will,” Tonks stated, that grin never leaving her face she wondered, now that the discussion had come out, who would win a duel. Tonks never got to see Alex fight much because whenever there were battles she was fighting herself, usually with Bellatrix, no less. So it was hard to judge his skills, but he assumed that he was probably a good fighter, considering her wasn’t dead from the battle in the Department of Mysteries. She was injured very badly after that whole ordeal, and still couldn’t remember who ended up in the hospital and who didn’t. Of course, she could hardly blame herself for not remembering.

Tonks gingerly got off the bed, nodding happily that she would see him when he got off of work. She took the chart, looked it over, and thanked him, then told Alex she would see him soon. She left the room with a wave. She went to the front desk and the receptionists did help her get set up. For the next hour and a half, she took a nap, and still made it to the Three Broomsticks on time. She sat herself down at a table for two and ordered two butterbeers.

She didn’t touch her drink when it came, but merely stared at it. Was this even a date? Did she like Alex? She rubbed her forehead with one of her hand, seriously thinking about it. Obviously, she had to like him a bit to ask him to come today, right? Her mind was racing, and the more she thought about it, the more nervous she got. That’s when her thoughts were interrupted, “Hi Alex.. No, I have only been here a few minutes…” She smiled slightly, “How was the rest of your shift?

Alex had just recently come to the conclusion that he might possibly be feeling a certain something for Tonks. Sure, it might be a little dense, but it took him quite awhile to realize his feelings for the Auror. They had most likely been building up over the past year or so. He had recognized that he had been growing more protective of her, became a bit finicky when other guys flirted with her, but he just assumed that it was just his friendship feelings for her growing. Alex had been wasting his time with other girls in his confusion. Poor Alex fell for girls so quickly.

To be completely honest, he was pretty damn tired and if Tonks hadn’t asked him to get a drink, he probably would be in bed, fast asleep. But there was no way he was going to miss out on spending more time with Tonks. He was trying his best to not get his hopes up as to what exactly this meeting was. It was not a date, it was not a date, it was not a date!

“’S’cuse me!” he said, flagging down a waitress with a wave of his hand. The waitress in question came over, looking very annoyed as if Alex had interrupted her during an extremely important job. Oh, yeah. Vincent had told him about this one. Her name was Lizzie or Lucy or some sort of L name. “Firewhiskey, please?” he asked, shooting her a grin, which caused her demeanor to soften ever so slightly. She rolled her eyes and wandered over to the bar, where Madam Rosmerta was. Alex had to admit he was a little disappointed that Vincent wasn’t working.

Alex sighed. The rest of his shift was actually pretty rough. There were at least two more incidents where people came in who had been attacked by a werewolf, even a few that had been bitten by vampires. The attacks had been getting worse and it was really starting to worry the healer. “About the same as always,” he said with a shrug as the waitress returned with his drink,”Thank ya.”

He took a sip before saying,”So, how’re you? You feeling alright?”
