THE BURROW. SUMMER.

Is it wrong I'd rather write in this thing than to write to my boyfriend? I don't even know if Dean would answer really. I've sent a few things but we don't have a ton of things to talk about. Maybe things will be better when we get back to Hogwarts. Or maybe we'll just argue all the time. Okay, so Dean is great and all, but we really only have Hogwarts and Quidditch in common and I'm not even sure he's as into it as I am.

In other news, Fleur is staying with us. Hermione and Harry too, but it's Phlegm that I can't stand. Hermione is about the only person I can joke around with about it. All the guys seem to think Phlegm is just brilliant and Mum, well... she doesn't like her, but I think she doesn't want to admit that she likes my jokes either. Mum's weird about that. You would think that since Fred and George are doing really well with jokes and all, that she'd just give in and admit that it's not all that bad to make light of something. But it's Mum. Mum is always right isn't she. I'm hoping Phlegm will stay around her for a while though because I really can't stand the woman. I don't know what Bill sees in her.

It's always nice when Harry and Hermione stay with us. I still really like Harry, but it's okay just being friends too, for now. I mean, I'm with Dean so it's not like I'm looking for anything else right now. Harry's really fun to be around. I can joke around him and all that. And it's nice to see someone who isn't in your family around.

I'm a prefect. A blood prefect. Mum's happy of course. And why wouldn't she be? That's everyone in the family not counting Fred and George. And really, it just wouldn't be fair to make one of them a prefect and not the other. But I don't really see how I was made a prefect. Maybe Dumbledore thought that since I have a lot of friends I'd be a good role model or something. Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I mean, it's great I guess. I just hadn't thought about it happening. I completely forgot that they chose them fifth year. It's still summer, of course, but the letter came with my class schedule and book list. Mum is excited about putting it on my uniform. She says I can have something. Everyone gets something special when they get the prefect letter. At least, that's how it has been since Bill got his. I really don't know what to ask for so I told her I'd think about it. It won't be expensive of course, I already feel bad about asking for something that I wouldn't normally get since I'm the only girl in the family and I get different things on occasion, like when I grow out of clothes. I can't really wear Ron's hand-me-downs.

Ron asked for a broom last year. That would be a decent request, but I was an alright Seeker last year with the broom I already have. Percy asked for a cauldron I think, but I don't need one of those either. Mine works just fine. And who wants to be like Percy anyway? And Fred and George didn't ask for anything because they weren't picked. If it was because of their sense of humor, I don't know why I was picked. Everyone says I take after them.

So I supposed after the Sorting Feast this year instead of having fun and chilling with some of the other Gryffindors, I'll be escorting first years about. I guess it won't be so bad. Hermione is a prefect. She'll help out if I need anything. Hopefully I won't. I hate asking her for help. Which reminds me to ask her about her OWL notes... I hate asking her to borrow them, but I really want to pass my OWLs, especially now that I'm a prefect. It wouldn't look good for someone who is supposed to be setting an example fail a few exams. Of course, if Professor Dumbledore thinks that being a prefect is going to stop me from pranking just about everyone in the school, he's got another thing coming. Someone has to pick up where my brothers left off. Right?

I broke things off with Dean. It just didn't make sense to be together anymore. I know, I know. It's horrid timing. The Hogwarts Social Ball is coming up and he was probably looking forward to going as a couple, but he's a good guy and I'm sure he'll find someone else no problem. Well, at least I think he's a good guy. We didn't exactly break up quietly, or very maturely for that matter. I wonder if anyone heard it. Dear Merlin, I hope not. That would be embarrassing. I know people are going to find out soon anyway though because it's not like people in this school can keep a secret for long.

But really, how long could he expect us to go on arguing like that? It was all we ever really did. Well, that and... well there was a lot of snogging. But that's not really wrong or anything. Just not something I'd like my brothers to see. Or for mum to find out. Dean really shouldn't want to be with me either, though. It's not like we have a whole lot in common and he had to have suspected that this break up was coming. I think.

Anyway, I'm not looking forward to the social at all. Before it might have been okay, but I'd rather not see Dean there. I mean, I hope he has a great life and all, but I don't really want to watch him live it right now. It's kind of selfish of me, especially since I was the one who'd been thinking about breaking up for a while now, but I don't know if he's the kind of person who would throw a new date in my face or not. That's mean of me. I shouldn't think things like that about Dean, but we were always arguing. And about nothing. Either way I have to go to this thing, whether I see him there or not. I'm a prefect and I don't think it would really look good for me to sign up for it and then not go. Plus, Fred and I planned to spike the punch with a love potion. So at least it won't be a total loss. We might liven things up a bit.
