It was early evening on one of the Hogsmeade weekends for the school, so Vincent was preparing for the influx of students from the school to come down to the Three Broomsticks. Madam Rosmerta had just taken off for the evening, as she was mainly the day bartender and Vincent was the evening. He was a little suspicious that she hired him because of his last job: hit wizard. So, to be incredibly honest, he knew how to take care of people that were causing problems.

Right now, most of the students were probably out shopping for a bit before they were going to come into the Three Broomsticks, so Vincent was relieved to have a little while to prepare. He had just started his shift, so he was cleaning up the pub. Vincent had inherited an almost annoying tendency to keep things clean when he was on the job. At home? Well, that was a completely different story, much to the dismay of his roommate, Alex. He had a friend that ran a diner, Tobias Maddoxx, and that man made sure his diner was the cleanest around. Vincent spent some time working in that diner during summers in his Hogwarts years, so he learned pretty quickly to keep things clean on the job.

He carefully grabbed some glasses that he had just cleaned and dried and was starting to pile them onto the shelf behind the counter for easy access for when he was ready to serve the massive amounts of students that would soon be flooding into the inn. Hopefully (especially with the students here) Vincent wouldn't have to put up with any of the drunkards this evening.

Vincent patted some excess water that was on his hands onto his pants, before whipping the towel off of his shoulder. He started to wipe down the bar so that it was perfectly dry and clean. Right now, the inn was pretty quiet. There were only a few people scattered around the pub: an older man in the corner, what appeared to be some Ministry man on the far wall, and an overly affectionate couple sitting by the window.

She had a long day of teaching the students of Hogwarts. Honestly, Sybill felt like taking a walk down into town and enjoy her time left of the day. It was cool outside, she had been in front of the school for a while now, just enjoying the breeze and the gorgeous view. Often times, Sybill brought a small canvas outside here, found herself a nice, quiet place to sit, and painted these sunset skies. The trees and clouds and then even the animals she saw flying in the skies added to the inspiration she drew from the natural world.

Dragging herself out of her artistic thoughts, she figured she'd go paint later that week or something. She hadn't in a while and found it was a therapeutic method for her much needed relaxation.

The walk wasn't long. She was dressed in her usual bland outfits, often reminding others of something organic at the sight of her. She loved nature and therefore wished to be kind to it. Syb sighed and pressed open the doors to The Three Broomsticks. She enjoyed spending time here as well. Not many people were here aside from a bartender at the bar (obviously) and then a couple snogging in the back booth. She shook her head and sneered to herself, why do such things in public? And people thought SHE was mad...

After knocking her scrawny little hips on a few tables and possibly a chair, she made her way over to the lonely bar. She wasn't really lonely herself, but a drink would do her wonders at the moment. Sybill set down her multi colored bag and adjusted the once crooked glasses on her nose.

She spotted a man who was wiping down the bar top and then would switch to putting away newly cleaned glasses on some shelves. She blinked a few times before awkwardly waving him over, not exactly thinking of using her words to get his attention.

"Excuse me? Hello! Hi, yes...can I have a single glass of, um..Butterbeer is it? Yes, one of those please," Sybill asked, a bit more extensively than the normal order she supposed. Then again, Syb wasn't normal so it seemed all but okay to act anything but.

She watched the younger bar tender as he listened to her words. Mmm... she was feeling a sense of bad luck around this fellow. Sybill, not normally one to hold back her divination skills, spoke up, bringing her left hand to her temple,

"Hmmm... Oh child... tsk tsk, such bad luck you have I presume, yes? It's wafting off of you, you see. I feel it..."

Vincent looked up from his post of wiping down the bar when he heard a quiet voice addressing him. To his surprise, he saw what appeared to be two bug eyes staring at him. Shaking his head, he realized that he recognized the woman. Yeah, she was a teacher up at the school. Professor…well, he couldn’t remember her name. He knew that she taught Divination, though. That was a class that he had never taken because frankly, he didn’t think he would be much good at it. He remembered that Pete had tried to explain everything about it to him, but much like potions, he just could not wrap his mind around the concept.

He shook his head, realizing that he had been staring at the woman for a moment. “Butterbeer, right, right, comin’ right up,” he said. Vincent wandered over to where he had been previously organizing the clean glasses. He grabbed a tall mug-like glass that was usually used for butterbeer most of the time. Flipping his wand out of his pocket, he tapped the glass, causing it to frost all over. He slipped his wand back into his pocket and walked over to the giant keg on the wall behind the bar. This was where the butterbeer was held. He had just refilled it right before his shift started, so there should be plenty to get him and his customers through the night. Besides, the later it got, the fewer customers there were that ordered butterbeer.

Just as he was about to flip up the switch to allow the butterbeer to come flowing out, he heard the woman speak again. Raising an eyebrow, he turned to face her. “Huh? Wha-bad luck? What’re you talking about?” he asked, frozen in front of the giant keg. He was playing stupid, of course. There was no way that he could have gone through everything that he had and not be at least a little suspicious that he had some sort of rotten luck. For awhile, he was sure that he had been cursed, but nope. It was just him.

Sybill wondered how silly the boy had to be to not feel his own sense of poor luck. She eyed him for a moment, wondering if he was simply messing with her, but when she figured he wasn't, she shook her head lightly and blinked. Well he really wasn't a boy, he was a grown young man, actually. Still didn't help his cause, in her mind.

Syb sighed and clasped her hands together, the rings catching the dimly light light of the place. Mmmm poor luck indeed, this man had it badly. Such a pity, Syb only wished people had all the luck in the world and happiness all the time! Well maybe not 'cause then she'd be out of a job. Besides, who would be there to predict the false death of a Hogwarts kiddo on an annual occasion?

The rather weird lady cleared her throat and nodded vigorously, replying to his curious comments of her observation,

"Mmmhmmm, oh yes, lots of it too..." the witch muttered lowly, but loud enough for only the two of them heard. Her readings were usually meant only for her and their recipient. Except in class, that was different. Like that one time she predicted Neville's grandmother's death... Mm, pity.

Snapping back into the current date, Sybill glanced back towards the bar tender and then back to the counter top. Her jitters probably got the kid questioning her sanity, but it was old habit. Movement helped her stay calm and focus on the task at hand. Now, it was explaining to this guy his case of nasty luck.

"Let's see.... from what I'm getting you were born...say, mid summer? Happy time of year but those often born then are naive, and..thus having poor luck due to lack of....of attention," she rambled, stuttering a bit. Again, old unbroken habit of hers. Sybill then cocked her head to the said, giving the younger man an expecting look. She was really wanting that drink before he ended up dropping it.

"For example you...you will most likely end up with a mess on your hands within the, uh, next few minutes or so I read," Sybill stated, nodding subtly. She just hoped her drink didn't have to do with his misfortune. Alas, it probably did if that thought even crossed her mind.

Sybill was thankful it was later in the day, no more classes to go back to so her time could be used as she pleased tonight. No rushing back to her room and looking and acting more disheveled than the norm. Then again she always looked like she had just rolled out of bed so, it was really nothing new to anyone that was around Hogwarts long enough.

Vincent stared at her for a moment, unsure of what to think of her. The whole thought of divination sort of made him nervous. He really didn't know what was going to happen to him, honestly. And knowing him, he would become super paranoid, which would probably cause him to make whatever was supposed to happen to him occur.

He frowned as she continued to analyze him and his bad luck. Did she have to rub it in like that? After everything that had happened to him over the years, how could he not be at least a little suspicious that he had some bad luck? "Well...I dunno, if I would call it bad luck," he said, grinning at her before turning back to the giant keg, but he paused.

Was there something wrong with this woman? Vincent had never been in close contact with her, so he only saw her up at the staff table during his years at Hogwarts, or maybe just passing in the hallway. And he had certainly never been in a conversation with her.

He cocked an eyebrow when he heard what she said next. Pretty everything she said was wrong. "I was born in April...," he said slowly, staring at her carefully, trying to determine if this all was a joke or not. Vincent had definitely heard these things about the Divination professor, but he honestly didn't believe them too much.

"A mess?" he asked, suddenly concerned. Vincent hated messes in the workplace, not just because he had to clean them up, but because it made him look sloppy. He wasn't completely sure if he believed her or not. But...he shouldn't take his chances. Vincent turned back to the keg and flipped the nozzle up, allowing the golden liquid to come flowing out.

"Alright, here we g-" he said, starting to turn, but he tripped over the rug that had accidentally been flipped over when he turned to fill the mug with butterbeer. He tripped forward and ran into the shelf that was holding the majority of the glasses in the pub. His head hit the shelf and he fell to the floor, the glasses falling on top of him.

Why was it that everyone stared at her like she was insane? No, more like she was a throwback hippie from the 1960's who toked up to Led Zeppelin all day. That was a more accurate description. Although she had done just that on multiple occasions, she was not in any sense of the word a 'druggie.' Even if she was a little off.

Wouldn't call it bad luck? What else is there to call it? Poor fate, unfortunate fortune (Sybill made that one up herself), etc. She cocked her head to the side as she asked just that,

"What else would you call it then, hmm?"

Okay so she missed his birthday. Not by much though, only four months. Now he was probably wary of her, not that she knew that or even cared, but it was the truth, just like every other person in the world would. Syb was silently thankful she and him were the only two that knew about that little mistake she had just made, she was well aware of certain Slytherin students that would have a field day making jokes about that. Maybe even some staff members too, although she actually got on well with most of them. Minerva often was irritated by her but the two were still cordial to one another. She narrowed her eyes,

"Mmm, you're sure that's your month of birth?"

Sybill blinked her eyes a couple of times as the kid fell and knocked his head on the bar top. Oh wow, she HAD been right. Go figure. She smiled to herself, she wasn't completely incompetent at her work. She shook the smile off her face, Sybill should probably ask if he was alright, that was a nasty fall. Alas, Sybill didn't ask if her bartender was okay, instead let slip a little comment.

"I warned you," she boasted, shrugging a bit and then peeked over the bar down at him on the floor. Clumsy kid... See? If people would take her seriously, things like this wouldn't happen! Oh well, it's their loss to be labeling her as insane.
