Getting ready for class was quite the event each morning for Sybill. The frizzy haired woman had already dressed herself but had, again, misplaced her wand and glasses. This was typical of the Divination professor; she could be quite scatter-brained. Wand, wand…where had she left it last night before sleeping? The woman racked her memory, and then got on her hands and knees to search the wooden floor of her room for the precious items. It didn’t help she was practically blind without those infamously huge glasses of hers. She’d had them for years; perhaps she’d get new ones soon.
“Oh Merlin’s beard I’ve gone and done it again…lost my wand oh dear, no no no,” the witch muttered to herself as she felt around for the items.
She then remembered, they were on her desk across the room! Proud of herself for recalling, she hurriedly stood up, naturally, knocking her head on the shelf she was looking under. She blinked a couple of times to clear the dizziness from her and then proceeded forwards to obtain her new found wand and glasses. Now she could teach properly!
Sybill made her way from her sleeping space to the Divination classroom. It didn’t take long, the walk was short. She opened her door and then closed it once more so she’d know when someone was walking in. Not that she couldn’t predict it when she needed to, but it was good backup.
Today’s lesson would be reading tea leaves. Thankfully she had gotten that all set up last night since she was running behind this morning. Then again, when wasn’t she behind? She wasn’t the most organized lady in the world. Her desk was a mess, you couldn’t even see it underneath all the papers and quills and junk on top of it. Somehow she managed to not lose assignments.
Once the kids began walking into class she clasped her hands together and stood up. Of course, banging her knee on her desk while doing so.
“Oh! Students, yes, please take your seat. Quickly…quickly please there are things to be done, fortunes to be told…prophecies to be told as well…”
Her tone was direct, but it came out of her mouth rather quick and fast. She tended to repeat herself when she spoke. For being such a smart woman, her speaking habits sure didn’t show it. Neither did her predictions. Well SOME of them were wrong, not all. Syb still belived she was a strong worker of Divination. Even if she had said a student was born in mid-winter when he had actually been born in July… Everyone screws up on occasion… She blinked a few times and focused her attention to the last of the kids entering the room.
“Come now! Sit…sit,” she ushered them. “Class is to begin, children! Do pay attention, Divination is a hard, hard magic to master. Hard indeed…”
