OVERALL PERSONALITY: Luna isn't exactly your typical Ravenclaw student. While she is extremely bright and intelligent (especially about magical creatures), Luna has the tendency to steer conversations on to odd roads. Many will her to go off on tangents while in a conversation. Her voice sounds calm and collected as if she is day dreaming. Luna's beliefs are odd and varied. She typically believes in what many think to be outrageous and preposterous. In her mind though, it is all quite rational and anything can exist. Outwardly she doesn't display any stress or concern, even in the most dire situations. Her calm demeanor does allow her to provide comfort to the most troubled soul.
Whether or not Luna shows how anything is bothering her on the outside is one story. Inwardly, the teen is constantly contemplating and taking note of other people's mannerisms, behaviors, and moods. Luna is very perceptive and can easily tell just by a few seconds glance whether a person is lying, happy, sad, or confused. You can try to hide an emotion from her, but it's probably a dead giveaway based on a mannerism you haven't performed or one that you have newly acquired. Despite coping with the constant harassment of individuals and cruel jokes, Luna is actually always trying to figure out why they do such things. It was always confusing to her and probably why she yearns to have close friends she can be with. Her way of coping with such torment is not to do something to make herself feel better, but to comfort others in much more pain than she. After all, Luna has experienced the loss of her mother first hand and before her very eyes. In her mind, that is the greatest pain that anyone could have endured. Nothing else could really ever mount up to the pain of that. Luna could easily deal with a few harsh words and jokes thrown at her. Her mother would simply just smile and be proud. That was how she was. Always looking on the bright side of things. That was one way she could honor and remember her mother. Keep a quaint and calm personality no matter what. One person in a sea of despair could fill an entire room with light with the proper motivation and demeanor.
There is something a bit magical about Luna. She finds astrology quite interesting, perhaps also because it is slightly related to her name. None the less, she named her owl Asteria, meaning star. That's only part of the family. There is the moon and the stars. Unfortunately she does not have a shining sun yet in her life. Romance has quite eluded poor Luna as many believe her to be too weird, loony, and crazy. It doesn't bother her too much, but she knows that friends in company is more than enough to keep her happy for the time being.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: Luna sports a thin and fit body frame with a head of long, blonde, and curly hair. When not in uniform, Luna tends to wear fairly normal clothes for the most part. She can be seen wearing sweaters, jeans, formal coats, and dresses. Her dress selection though can be a bit odd and head turning at times. One would think she goes out of her way to look different, but in all reality it's simply her unique and eccentric personality. Her face is always brimming with that curious look that somehow never is phased by any event that takes place before her eyes.

OVERALL HISTORY: Luna was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lovegood in Devon, England. Their small and quaint home resides just outside of Ottery St. Catchpole. While at the young age of nine, Luna witnessed an event that would stick with her for life. Her mother had been experimenting with a new spell which backfired. The spell ended up killing her, leaving her father Xenophilius to raise her. With only her father left, Luna became very close and attached to her Daddy. Being raised by her father, Luna became educated under his unique and curious beliefs. This has lead Luna to believe everything about The Quibbler which her father is the editor for.
Beginning her witchcraft and wizardry career in 1992, Luna was sorted in to Ravenclaw. While she is an extremely bright and intelligent individual, some of that intelligence is devoted to what some may think is strange, odd, and flat out bizarre. Even for the wizarding world, Luna has some eccentric tastes in conversation topics and mannerisms. In her early years at Hogwarts, Luna met and befriended Ginny Weasley. It was early on here that Luna was given the nickname 'Loony' Lovegood or 'Loony' Luna by many. This didn't really stun her at all. She simply accepted it, just like many other things in life.
It was in her fourth year that Luna would meet and befriend the famous Harry Potter as well as his two friends. Oddly enough to Harry's surprise, Luna believed his accusation of the Dark Lord. Luna had a way with understanding people, despite the fact that many people didn't exactly understand her at times. Later in the year, Luna had joined Dumbledore's Army along with a number of other students. The secret organization was dedicated to rising up against those who would support the Dark Lord.
Having relatively few friends, Luna found her place in the organization. She felt comforted with others around, enjoying their company. In order to try and get word out to the world that Lord Voldemort had returned, Luna accompanied Harry and Hermione to the Three Broomsticks for an interview with none other than Rita Skeeter. Luna assisted with the interview by convincing her father to print the story in The Quibbler. Unfortunately that issue of The Quibbler was banned in Hogwarts. These steps down the path against supporters of the Dark Lord lead Luna on a dangerous venture with Harry.
Luna, accompanied by Ginny, were lookouts while Harry and Hermione attempted to use Professor Umbridge's office fireplace to contact and warn Sirius Black of Harry's vision. Being caught by the Inquisitorial Squad, Luna was taken prisoner only for a small time. She soon escaped in to the Forbidden forest along with the rest of her close friends to avoid the Inquisitorial Squad. Using her unique vision to see Thestals, the plan was hatched to use them in order to go to the Ministry of Magic. The battle in the Department of Mysteries ensued, leaving Harry without his godfather. After the battle, Luna comforted Harry over his loss and opened up with her own story at the beginning of her life.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Tap tap tap went the wooden handle as Luna set the paint brush down. Grey eyes peered from around blonde bangs. She examined the canvas with ever inquisitive eyes. Somehow one would not know if she was pleased with it or terribly confused as to what she was painting in the first place. The teen's hand gingerly picked the tool back up, dabbing up a new bit of color to its bristles. The brush gracefully lapped left and right across the canvas. Blue paint began to blend with white and swirl in to the existence of a new shape.
Twirling around in place, Luna began to hum lightly to herself as the brush found its way back to the canvas. The colored bristles continued to wipe across the canvas with ease. Life seemed so much simpler when she was painting. Of course everything was really simple. You just had to believe in it after all. Nothing was terribly impossible, but everything was always quite possible. You just had to know where to look sometimes.
A few more strokes and Luna took a few light steps backward. Her feet tip toed up and down as if trying to get a new view on her piece of art. Satisfied with her work, the teen swirled the brush in a small bottle of water. After a few seconds of stirring the brush, she withdrew it and placed it neatly back. Walking over to the window, her hand touched the cool glass. She traced a random set of lines on it for a few moments before her eyes settled on the reflection.
There she was, Luna Lovegood in the window. Her head tilted curiously as she stared at herself. A simple blue shirt and set of purple pants. That slightly curled blonde hair. Those grey eyes just looking back just as inquisitive and curious. The movement of the door caught her eye and a figure walked in. She soon recognized it to be a very familiar face. One that she had kept dear to her.
The woman that had walked in placed her arms around the little Luna in the reflection before giving her a gentle kiss on the head. The teen's eyes blinked and the imagery within the reflection was gone. A small smile crept over her face for a tiny moment. One day. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not even the next day. One day she'd see that wonderfully loving woman again. Luna happily went back to her painting. Eying it carefully as if it was a life or death situation, she took the brush back up. Dabbing up a new color, the brush patted against the canvas with a new breath of inspiration.
"Oh yes, one day. It's quite possible you know since nothing is really impossible." Her words were spoken to nobody in particular. Her voice was just as calm and dreamy as always. Somehow though, Luna felt that someone else was there. They knew. The door quietly closed shut as the man watching simply smiled and walked away.
