OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Iris is usually a rather calm, easy-going person with a dry sense of humor. She prefers to go with the flow when it comes to things like making plans with friends or what she's going to do for dinner that night. While she might seem lazy to most, she's very loyal and those she allows into her heart find her dependable and capable. She sometimes lets her pride get the better of her and finds herself having to rush around and make apologies for things she's done or said that hurt someone else's feelings.

OVERALL HISTORY:
Iris had always felt different from the other children when she as growing up, so it was the happiest day of her life when the letter from Hogwarts came and told her why she was different. This was when her father confessed that he himself was a wizard and had been hiding it for his entire marriage to Iris' mother. This caused a strain on all of their relationships and Iris' parents actually separated for a few years, finally getting back together in her fourth year at Hogwarts.
Her father was actually very elitist when it came to being a pureblood when he was younger, but his opinion changed when he met his wife when he was done with school. Now he is of the opinion that all wizards and witches should be considered equal no matter their birth, and he has been very supportive to Iris through her troubles at school. He was able to offer her a unique perspective due to his, shall we say, "experiences" on the other side of it.
Her years at school were somewhat uneventful. She played chaser on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team and had a small group of friends. She surprised most of her professors (who were convinced she was too lazy to accomplish much of anything outside of Quidditch) by passing her O.W.L.'s and N.E.W.T.'s with relatively high scores. She did suffer from quite a bit of teasing due to her half-blood heritage at the hands of a couple of Slytherins near the beginning of her school career.
A little overwhelmed by the tension still present in her parents' home, Iris took a job with a Wizarding clothing store in order to save up enough to get her own flat so she could pursue her own dreams. However, it has been over two years since she graduated from Hogwarts and she is still trying to figure out whether or not she should pursue her dream of becoming an Auror.
She is conflicted as to whether or not she actually wants to pursue that goal because, especially in this day and age, having a family in that profession can be rather dangerous. While she isn't ready to start one just yet, she desperately wants one in the future and is unwilling to endanger them. At the moment, she feels she still has enough time to decide and she's still making enough to cover her bills.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Iris pulled her slick blue rain coat tighter around herself as rivulets of water streamed down it. The coat did not protect her jeans and socks from half the water and this was what irritated her the most. Normally she would have used magic to keep the rain off of her, but she was in a somewhat peculiar situation; she was on her way to visit her parents. They lived in a muggle community and on top of that her mother absolutely forbid her from using the Flu network to travel back and forth for visits. The last time Iris had tried to apparate into the house, her mother had attacked her, ironically, with a broom while screaming bloody murder.
That was what found her rushing through the streets of Kent after hopping off of the bus at the stop. It was bloody inconvenient, which explained why she hardly ever made the journey these days. If her mother wasn't so paranoid about magic, maybe she would have more of a relationship with her only daughter and her father wouldn't try to escape to London as often as he did.
Granted, her father was the source of all the problems. He had married a muggle and hadn't thought it a good idea to tell her that he was a wizard. He had been able to get away with it, too, until the letter from Hogwarts came for Iris herself. That was when the family began to be a little more distant. Sure, her mother and father acted in-sync, proud of her for getting accepted and happily shopping for supplies for her, but the minute she shipped off to school they had decided to seperate for a time to try and work things out and allow her mother to become a little more used to the magical parts of her life.
Obviously it was still a work in progress.
She finally arrived at her parents' doorstep and rapped politely on the door, wiping rain water out of her eyes while she waited impatiently for the door to open. When it finally did, it was her mother who greeted her with a wide, good-natured smile.
"Welcome home, Iris."
"Glad to be here, mum."
