OVERALL PERSONALITY: Remus is an extremely calm person and it takes a lot for him to really get upset. He grew up being told that he was not as good as everyone else and being teased, so when someone reacts to him in such a manner, he merely sighs and just takes the abuse. Since he grew up with such negative connotations towards werewolves, he grew up believing it and that has stuck with him for years and years. Despite how many people accept him for the way he is, he will always truly believe that he is not as good or as important as those that are full blooded wizards.
Reading and knowledge is something that is very important to Remus. It was something that helped him escape every once in awhile when he was younger and still does so in his adult life. Because of all of the reading he does, he is extremely knowledgeable in a variety of fields. It is rare that he is found without a book in his hand or at least on his person.
Remus is a very kind person and has a very big heart. He will take pity on almost anyone, which is a very big flaw in his personality. He holds his friend very close to his heart and will do almost anything for him, which could be a very dangerous trait.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: Remus Lupin has a very drawn look about him, which is a cause of a mixture between him being a werewolf and having to change every month and the stress that he is under from not having a job, the whole relationship thing with Tonks and the war that is on the horizon. He looks a bit older than what he really is because the stress that he is under has caused him to wrinkle and gray prematurely. His hair is shaggy and a light brown color, with gray speckled in between. Remus has gray eyes that are usually surrounded by dark circles from lack of sleep and he has pale skin from being 'sickly' and not being outside in the sun too often.
From the times before the Wolfsbane potion was created (or when he has forgotten to take it), Remus has several scars scattered all over his body because the wolf had accidentally clawed itself. Being a registered werewolf, it is very difficult for Remus to get a job in the wizarding world because people generally do not want a werewolf working for them, no matter how qualified they are. Because of this, Remus does not have a lot of money, so all of his things are very shabby looking.

OVERALL HISTORY: Remus John Lupin was born to John and Grace Lupin on March 10, 1960. They were a poor family, but they were happy for the first few years of Remus's life. When Remus was four years old, though, John Lupin had done something to offend the well-known werewolf, Fenrir Greyback. As punishment, Fenrir hunted down Remus and bit him, causing the werewolf curse to flush through the child's body. The technology of the Wolfsbane potion hadn't been created yet, so Remus had to endure the full pain of the transformation for the next ten years or so.
At age 11, just like every other 11 year old witch or wizard, he was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, under special circumstances. John and Grace discussed Remus's condition with Albus Dumbledore via owl. Dumbledore said that there was no reason why Remus couldn't be a student as long as they took the proper precautions. The said precautions were that Remus was to be taken out to the building hidden behind the Whomping Willow every month on the full moon, so he wouldn't attack anybody. This unfortunately caused him to attack himself, which resulted in him having several scars all over his body. His owls of pain while he was the shack gave it the nickname The Shrieking Shack, by the villagers. Wanting to keep Remus's secret quiet, Dumbledore encouraged the rumors that the shack was haunted and it soon became known as the most haunted building in Britain.
Soon after he began going to Hogwarts, he was sorted in to Gryffindor and became friends with his fellow Gryffindors, James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew. While they were his friends, he still kept them at a distance because he was terrified of losing them as friends if they knew about what he was. However, James and Sirius noticed his monthly disappearances and scars, so they confronted him about it. To Remus's surprise, they continued to be friends with the werewolf and even went to the extent of working to become Animagi so they could accompany him every month to the Shrieking Shack and he wouldn't be alone. By their fifth year, James could become a stag, Sirius could become a black dog and Peter could become a rat. After this, they created the Marauder's Map.
After he graduated, Remus joined The Order of the Phoenix to joint he fight against Dark Wizards. This was his highest priority, as he was unable to get a job because of his condition. As the war began, a distrust developed between Remus and Sirius, as they each thought the other was a spy for Voldemort. Remus was not included in the plan for protecting Lily and James, but he knew that a Fidelius Charm had been used for them. He was not aware that Sirius had been traded out for Peter, which is why he thought Sirius had betrayed the Potters.
The first steady job wasn't until 1993 when Dumbledore contacted him about being the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts, which he eagerly accepted. This was where he first met Harry Potter and was shocked how much like James he was. He was able to get to know Harry better during the year because of the Dementors that were placed around the school. He taught Harry how to produce a Patronus. The year ended badly, though, as Severus Snape 'let it slip' to his student that Remus was a werewolf, which is why he forced himself to resign. He didn't want to bring any stress to Dumbledore after everything he's done for him.
For the next three years, Remus devoted his time to doing whatever needed to be done to help the Order, as he felt that it was the only way he could be useful.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Remus was sitting in the living room of Number 12, Grimmauld Place, which was the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. The chair he was sitting in was worn and falling apart (just like the rest of the house) and had moth holes scattered all over the upholstery. He had his legs crossed with a large book open in his lap. His scarred cheek was resting in his equally scarred hand as his eyes darted across the page quickly. What was the book he was reading that had such a hold on his attention? A Complete History of the Goblins Wars.
Molly stomped into the living room and stopped right in front of the werewolf with her fists on her hips. “Remus John Lupin. Quit being so anti-social this instant!” she said, taking one of her hands off of her hip to waggle a finger at him. Her face was a fuming red and her lips were pursed in anger.
“Molly, I really need to get this reading done. It may be the only way I get money this month,” he said, holding up the book for a moment. He had gotten into the habit of writing reports on essays on different things, then selling them under a fake name. Remus was never able to get an actual job, besides teaching at Hogwarts, and he had to get money somehow.
“That’s nonsense, Remus,” she said, shaking her head, furiously. “You’re going to have to face her eventually- You’re being ridiculous, Remus Lupin!-“
“Yes, well, thank you, Molly. It’s getting late, I should be going,” he said, getting up, slamming the book shut and straightening his tie. Remus flung on his cloak and left the building as soon as he could, despite Molly’s sputterings behind him. He sighed as he held the book in the hook of his hand and pulled out his wand. With a POP, he disappeared and reappeared just outside the Leaky Cauldron, where he lived.
He was growing tired of Molly's lectures. It was a hopeless situation, after all. What was he supposed to do about it?
