Never the first one to speak, Elijah keeps to himself not bothering to communicate with his fellow students or Hogwart’s staff. He doesn’t have many friends, but prefers it that way because of a general lack of trust toward the general human population. Sometimes he comes off as indifferent, cold, or bitter but in reality Elijah knows very well who he is but he realizes it’s not someone most like to see. Because of the poor attitude some have towards those who are homosexual, Elijah is very insecure and keeps it hidden, believing it to be like a curse. He continually fights against his emotions. There is a side of Elijah that drives others, more so his parents, up the wall. He is very competitive and enjoys lurking in the background and playing cunning tricks on his peers and siblings. It gives him a sense of control in his life. Elijah hates to lose and is disturbed that he cannot truly be himself; no matter how much he wants Elijah will never publically declare his sexuality. He will always pretend to like girls.
Besides being the silent, brooding type Elijah is also very protective of his family. He is a genuine “mama’s” boy and is easily offended by those who criticize her beliefs. Elijah tries very hard to understand her love of muggle culture, but at times finds it frustrating. He would do anything for his family and is very paranoid about the impending war. Being a near adult Elijah senses the strain in his parent’s marriage and is curious/anxious about where it might lead.
Smart but uncaring, Elijah does poorly in his school work. He doesn’t try and will cram for exams at the last minute. If he would put forth an effort he could very easily be one of the best academically, but he claims to lack the energy to do work. Regardless, he spends a lot of time in the library reading. He is especially fond of muggle poetry, particularly Shakespeare.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: Elijah blames his poor taste in fashion on his father, Fabien. Normally he’ll wear grungy jeans and a plain t-shirt of some odd color such as pea-green or an eye-bleeding yellow. He is quite fond of scarfs and often has one draped about his neck, even in the summer heat. Ties are his arch nemesis; Elijah often unties his and leaves it hanging about his neck, whether for a wedding or school uniform. Not bothering with gels or any sort of product, Elijah allows his mop of dark hair to hang loose and only combs it after a shower. It sort of spurts up in wisps that curl at the tip. In the morning he merely runs a hand through his hair and is set for the day. He doesn’t shave very often and has a light shade of stubble running along his jawline/chin. His eyes are an ice-blue and framed by dark lashes.
Elijah has high cheekbones. His skin is pale despite the numerous times he’s been out of doors; he either burns or is snow-white. He never tans. Reaching a grand 6’3” Elijah is a tall man and weighs 185 pounds. Sometimes he feels like an awkward giant.

OVERALL HISTORY:
Born to Fabien and Charity Burbage on January 27th, along with a twin brother, Elijah was welcomed into a warm and loving home. Starting from a young age he would often be read muggle novels such as The Cat in the Hat and various fairytales by his mother. His favorite by far was the tale of Beauty and the Beast, the whole concept captured his attention; much to the chagrin of his father Elijah for a period of time believed the story to be based on the relationship between his parents. When he was about two years old his younger brother was born; his sister followed around a year later.
Elijah and his twin brother started to exhibit magic from an early age. Once while playing in the backyard, he and his twin got in a fight over something ridiculous and when Elijah howled his rage the back window shattered. Another time was when he bit his tongue during supper and it started to rain onto the table as he cried in pain. But Elijah’s favorite way of showing his magic was when making an effort to annoy his twin. Often Elijah would creep silently behind his brother, remaining hidden, and would make objects fly around and trip his twin. This would usually result in the breaking of a pot, vase, or something that was quite breakable. He loved making his brother’s food explode in his face.
Growing up, Elijah always felt he was different. He didn’t blush at the neighborhood girls, he didn’t chase after them on his bike, and in fact he didn’t talk much with them at all. This was always brushed off as a case of shyness, but Elijah couldn’t help but feel it was something else. Across the street lived another boy his age named Matthew; Elijah was spending his time constantly with Matthew and found himself smiling and blushing when alone with him. But still being relatively young, he had little idea what his feelings were implying. When Matthew moved away a year before Elijah left for Hogwarts, he found himself crying in his bedroom for a whole of two days saddened at the departure of his friend and feeling as though a part of him was missing.
When the time came for Hogwarts, Elijah was somewhat upset. He hated large crowds and being away from his parents but was excited at the prospect of being sorted into a house. He had his fingers crossed for Ravenclaw or Slytherin. On the train he kept to himself, not even sitting with his twin brother. When sorted into Slytherin Elijah was thrilled to be in the same house as his father and sent him an owl that evening, unable to keep the smile off of his face.
Elijah eventually nestled into Hogwarts as a loner with few friends; he didn’t mind and appreciated the solitude. Often he spends his time in the library with his nose buried in a book or out by the Black Lake. In his third year he met Ravenclaw Bryce Johnson; the two got along quite well. It was through Bryce that Elijah began to realize that he was attracted to men. At first he was horrified and went into denial, quickly breaking off their friendship. He had read about muggle hate crimes against those attracted to the same gender and feared the same would happen to him; what terrified him most was the abandonment of his family and friends. He thought they would be disgusted by his feelings and turn their backs on him.
Eventually the guilt pent up within him until Elijah felt as though he would burst. The summer before his fourth year he confessed to his mother and begged for her not to say a word. It was a relief to get the weight off of his chest. Regardless, he is still especially frightened of his father’s reaction and has kept it a secret so far from the rest of his family.
During his fourth year when his sister first came to Hogwarts, his mother took the position of muggle studies. At the beginning he was somewhat embarrassed, mainly because the other Slytherins looked down on the subject, but he brushed it off and has since attended the class every year. It is the one subject Elijah actually tries in, more out of fear than of loyalty. As of late, he has sensed a change in the relationship between his parents. Things seem to be more strained as time goes on and his mother’s career progresses. The sudden shift in his father settles uneasily with Elijah and he has drawn back further into himself.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
The daylight had begun to wane and an evening chill settled over the surrounding land; Cenric watched as the sun sank. The orange-glazed grass stirred in the breeze. He knew it would be unwise to travel any further, especially in the thick of night where Shades had better sight than he. Adjusting the leather strap of his bag Cenric marched onward, minding the pebbles beneath his feet that popped into dust beneath the weight of his towering frame. Off in the distance he spotted large snails, a favorite snack amongst dragons. He had hunted one down earlier in the week when low on supplies; the meat had been bitter and tough. The slime had been difficult to clear off, sullying his dagger and seeping into the fissures of his hands. The scent was enough to make him turn away.
But food was food, and if he had had any intention of living the snail made a nice feast. It lasted three days and Cenric had been especially satisfied when the carcass was gone. He had bathed himself multiple times in frigid waters to be rid of the stink.
Cenric paused in his walk staring ahead. A city loomed on the horizon. The earth trembled with the pulsing of dragon wings. He wondered if it would be best to camp on the outskirts, where he could stay clear from the keen eyes of the riders and dragons. Cenric did not fully trust them or anyone; he barely trusted his own shadow.
At the thought of a possible skirmish, something clawed at his chest. Unconsciously he placed a hand to his breast and scowled, feeling the hair on the back of his neck begin to rise. Shaking his head Cenric let out a muted grunt. He was stronger than Raith, the demon that twisted within the darkest corners of his mind. Cenric would not let Raith appear. He couldn’t. It would be a disgrace.
Fearful of Shades, with whom Raith would certainly slash himself out, Cenric made the quick decision to enter the city and take his chances amongst the dragons and their riders. He trooped through the entrance, eyes surveying the scene before him, and hardened his gaze. It was his goal to slip through unseen until he could settle at an inn.
