LIKES:
DISLIKES:
* Divination. Blast. What is the point of this subject? He was in class the very first day and knew, as soon as the Professor entered, he just wasn't going to like it. No matter how hard he tries to "see with his third eye", he just can't seem to get the hang of it. Perhaps something is blocking his inner sight? Ha. Yeah, right!
* Cooking. His mum has given up trying to get him to help out in the kitchen during the summers. He just always ends up causing mayhem and disturbances. Better to just let him be and do his own thing!
* Water. He never bothered to learn how to swim, so seeing large bodies of water freaks him out. He doesn't mind sitting on the lawn of Hogwarts near the lake, but he just does not like going too near it. He would rather avoid it all together. His dad keeps trying to tell him every summer to just go take lessons, but come on. He's sixteen now. Do you think he wants to go take lessons to learn how to swim at his age? He'd look ridiculous! Oh there we go, he'll just wear water wings. Ha. Haha. His parents are so funny.[/ul]
STRENGNTHS:
* He's rather good with a quill. He can write pretty fast, and he's never had too much problems with homework. He doesn't put it off either, so that's always helped him in the past. With the load of work now though he's starting to have problems, but he's still pretty cheerful about it. Even if it kills him, he'll get that homework done one way or another!
* He prides himself on always being loyal to his friends. He sticks up for them and stays by their side. He doesn't care what others think of them, and he doesn't much mind not being the most popular boy at Hogwarts. (He actually kind of likes flying under the radar.) [/ul]

OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Elliot is a rather cheerful and "take each day as it comes" kind of guy. He doesn't let the day to day things get him down unless it effects his overall future. He knows that if he gets an iffy grade on a paper, he can shrug it off and vow to try harder next time. He's friendly and pleasant to those he doesn't know, and to those he does he's very humous. He always wants to try to put a smile on his friends' faces. He doesn't have a low tolerance level or small threshold for anger. It's very difficult to make him snap at someone. For the most part he just wants to float by in life and accomplish his goals, nothing more.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: Elliot, when not in school, wears average clothing. Sometimes he likes to wear dressier shirts, but he feels they are too stuffy. He only wears them when he sits down to tea with his grandparents. He loves jeans and a simple shirt, and prefers to keep his hair loose around his face rather than slicked back. (His mother has this annoying habit of randomly trying to use a magic spell to do it for him.) He has the coloring of his father, though not the build. His father's side of the family are known for being very short, so luckily he inherited his mother's side of the family's men's build. For the most part Elliot doesn't think about his looks. He just throws on whatever is clean, runs a comb through his hair, and then he's done for the day.

OVERALL HISTORY: Elliot was born into the loving-- and often times eccentric-- Boyd family. His father is a muggle, while his mother is a witch. This caused much confusion when he was younger, because he did not quite know what he wanted to be. His mother told him they would love him if he had magic or not, but Elliot knew he wanted to be part of something more exciting than normal muggle life. His father told him that it wasn't quite so bad, having no magic and all, but Elliot just could not bring himself to believe him.
He did not show any signs of magic until age ten. It had worried him so extensively that it was probably the reason he didn't exhibit any abilities. He was looking too hard for them. Perhaps if he had stopped thinking so hard on it, he might have noticed the way that cuts healed quicker, or his hair grew faster when cut, or even that one time he made a slug explode. (He had turned away too quick and not noticed.) After ten summers on Earth, however, it was quite hard to ignore. He had gotten so mad at his eight-year-old sister that he had accidentally turned her hair the most disgusting shade of peuce green.
It had been the best day of his life.
After that, Elliot got his acceptance letter at eleven and off he was whisked to Hogwarts. He quickly found he loved learning new things about the world that he had refused to hear about growing up. (He did not want to become attached if he found out he was non-magical.) There were so many things to explore, to try, to sample. He found that he was like a child in a candy store who was told he could live there forever. Elliot wanted everything.
He quickly found out that he was quite gifted with animals. He loved learning about new ones, and handling them. He was also pretty good with Herbology, though he was abysmal with Divination and Arithmancy. (He had tried the latter only once. Never again.) He was average in Charms and Transfiguration, and couldn't bring himself to care much about Potions. He scraped by in those three subjects and that was all that matters to him. Defense Against the Dark Arts was pleasant with the right teacher, and he enjoyed it well enough he supposed.
Summers were spent lazily idling about his family's house, and occasionally going out and trying to do something in public. For the most part he spent his time missing Hogwarts and the friends he had made there, the things he still had left to learn. His mother would take him to Quidditch games (which he found boring, though his sister enjoyed them) and to different little shops with little trinkets he could tinker with and learn about. He always looked forward to the beginning of school however. Nothing could stop him from pining for that day.
Elliot lived an average, normal life. Maybe not in Wizard standards (those lives would be more exciting and abnormal to his view anyway), but in a half-blood sense he lived an unexciting, unobtrusive existance. Even now in Hogwarts he prefers to mind his own business and stay out of trouble. He doesn't play pranks, he isn't mean spirited, he just buckles down and focuses on tasks at hand.
That is not to say that he doesn't enjoy having fun. He goes to the Lake with his friends, and into Hogsmede when the chance arises. He teases his sister whenever he sees her about school, and eats meals in the Great Hall, laughing and joking like a normal teenage boy.
If you asked Elliot himself about his history, he would of course say, "Boring."

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Elliot wasn't a tense individual. Sitting there in the classroom, staring out the window as the clouds rolled by, this epiphany came upon him quite suddenly. He had just finished his exam and he wasn't in any real hurry to turn it in. He rather liked sitting here, staring up at the clouds, trying to imagine if that one looked like a yorkie or a frog. It was rather odd that he could take it to be either shape, because both were so completely different from each other.
Okay, wow. His thoughts were really drifting. Sighing, he dropped his chin onto his hand and peered around the classroom. The professor was at the top of the room, going over exams already turned in, and wasn't really paying much attention to the rest of the students. Elliot was sure there were spells about to make sure no one cheated, so the professor probably didn't have to worry about that. Were there such spells? Elliot had never tried to test the waters in exams to find out, so he wouldn't know from experience.
Lazily rolling his head backwards, he stared up at the ceiling with a bored idleness that came over him every now and again. He should turn his exam in and head back to the Common Room. He knew he should, but he also knew as soon as he did so he would have a mountain of homework to climb atop of and complete. He wasn't in any hurry to jerk himself out of his thoughts and daydreams to go do that. Though he enjoyed finishing him homework, the task of getting himself to start it was sometimes a bit difficult.
Sighing, Elliot finally grasped the edges of his paper and studied his handwriting instead. It was messy, he realized. He would have to spend more time being more careful with his quill. There was even an illegible mark at the top right by his name! Dang, he was bad with writing. His sister always teased him that if a troll could write, it would look exactly like his scrawl.
Oh well. There wasn't much Elliot could do about it now. Well, there was if he wanted to reach into his pocket and take out his wand, spend another few minutes tidying things up, but he didn't much feel like it. He would get a passing grade one way or another and, for right now, he just wanted to have a moment not to be tense.
Get your lazy butt up to the front of the room and turn your test in, that inner voice nagged. Sometimes it sounded suspiciously like his mother. You have other things to be doing!
Oh alright. He finally managed to heave himself to his feet and walk languidly up to the front of the room, handing the paper to the teacher. "Thank you," he told her politely, and then, stopping back at his desk only to gather his things, he was out of the classroom a moment later. He should head to the Common Room and do that homework, he told himself as he walked slowly through the corridors. He was headed towards the stairs, though he wasn't sure if he was going to head down to the ground floor, or to Hufflepuff's Common Room.
He could waste a little more time. He so rarely got any time during this year to do fun things anymore. It was all school work and exams and preparing for next year. The last year. The dreaded last year of school. He wasn't looking forward to it like some other students he knew. He liked it at Hogwarts and never wanted to leave. He enjoyed the ambiance and the people, the feelings that surrounded him whenever he was cocooned inside of the library.
Yes, he wasn't looking forward to his last year. Heaving one last weary sigh, he turned in the direction of where he knew his homework to be. His dorm room would suffice as a retreat to get some work done. Though Elliot was loathe to cut his relaxation time short, he knew he had to. That was just how he was. He always did the right thing in the end.
