OVERALL PERSONALITY: Saying Sybill is your everyday teacher would be considered the understatement of the year. She’s a special woman, friendly, but none the less a little loose in her head. She’s clumsy, has poor social skills, and doesn’t always realize what she says. This being true, Syb has a kind heart and wishes nothing but the best for pretty much everyone around her. Except those who mock Divination and cause trouble for the magic world, she doesn’t mind seeing a few tea leaves out of place in their cups…
She could be considered awkward by most she meets. Sybill tends to be entertaining without even trying. She’s odd, no doubt about it, but Sybill does have admirers among her students. She appreciates any respect people give her since her kind, seers, don’t often get much of it.
Syb can be kind of a hard woman to get close to romantically. Friendship wise, no problem, it’s just overcoming the craziness. But romance is a very very foreign thing to her. In fact, she’s never felt that kind of love before. This really doesn’t bother her very much at all, if she finds someone, great! If not, great!

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: Sybill is of average height and a tad bit frail looking. Her large green eyes take up a lot of her face with her glasses on. She tends to not mess with her hair too often, hence why it’s frizzy and very wild most all the time. Her skin is pale and she is very jittery with her mannerisms. Her clothing style could be compared to a hippie or someone who reminds you of something organic. Very simple dressing style, nothing too fancy. Not exactly considered pretty to many, but isn’t hideous either.

OVERALL HISTORY: Sybill was born in London on October 31, 1963. Her mother was the extended granddaughter of the witch Cassandra Trelawney, therefore great things had been expected of the offspring of this family for three generations. When none of the following children had anything near as powerful as their celebrated grandmother, it was a shame. When Sybill was found to have the Inner Eye aka the Second Sight, a trait shared with her grandmother, it made her parents proud! Sybill was expected to be someone just as great, or possibly even greater than her ancestor, using her inherited gift.
Growing up, before age 11, her parents worshiped their daughter. They looked past the awkward personality and the hideously poor eyesight their daughter also inherited, and treated her like a queen. She went to school in London, fully aware of her abilities. Her parents were sure to inform their destined for greatness daughter of her skills. Sybill was excited of her different-ness among the others in her early life. Of course, like in most young aged schools, different isn’t always good and may not sit well with the other kids. Sybill was often picked on for being so silent and for her infamous glasses. Until she was sent to Hogwarts, Syb had a hard time making friends and fitting in.
Like most young magic users, Syb got her Hogwarts letter at age 11 and attended the school. To her relief and surprise, she fit right in and had plenty of friends, even if most of them found her a bit strange even for Hogwarts. She was sorted into the house of Ravenclaw upon her arrival there. A close friend of hers, who also grew up to become a teacher at Hogwarts, named Stephanie, was her first made friend at the school. From their first years in the building until now, the two girls haven’t once left one another. Stephanie took a liking to Sybill during no other than their Divination class, when she was seen to have no problems with it (or any other class for that matter) or any of the assignments given. Syb had offered to help the girl, who shared her house classification, and thus sparked an everlasting friendship.
Sybill was an outstanding student, always doing exceptionally well in her classes and acing her OWL’s each year. It is often thought that her brainiac mind adds towards her poor social skills amongst other people. Shockingly enough, she wasn’t considered an outsider at all! Her parents were so proud of their daughter, she was making good grades and was showing signs of the talent they both knew she had.
During her later years at Hogwarts, Sybill, like her grandmother before her, took a love for Divination. She was soon recognized as one who held the Second Sight or Inner Eye by her professor, whom was thrilled at this fact. Her final year was dedicated mostly to focusing on her natural gift of the art of divination. This is also the year she became fond of art and painting. The stress of 7th year often made Syb weary and mindless (more so than normal). She found that her doodling and random markings she made during a boring potions class could be used to relax herself. Therefore she began doing that as often as she could, becoming quite good at it.
After graduating, Sybill instantly applied for a job as a divination teacher at Hogwarts. She had known the Headmaster for years, since she had attended the school herself, obviously. Unfortunately, she had been known for making many false presumptions. The reason she was considered good was because when she was right, she was VERY right. That day of her job interview, she was extremely, maybe even frighteningly, right with her prediction. She was the witch credited with predicting the return of Voldemort. Not only that, but the prediction that Harry Potter would be the boy to destroy him in the years to come. This prediction got her the job.
Her time at Hogwarts has been great…most of the time. She is a peaceful woman, and doesn’t really know HOW to let things get to her. She’s smart but can be quite dense when it comes to emotions for whatever reason. She’s aware of the uncertainty of Divination, and knows not all believe in its ways, but she really is offended when people act as if her art doesn’t matter at all. Her students are often entertained by her constant tripping, stammering, bumping into everything, and just off the walls personality, but in her mind she’s perfectly normal. Except the fact she’s got the Second Sight. To her that’s a big deal.
Early in this current year, Dolores Umbridge sacked poor Sybill, demanding she be thrown out of Hogwarts for her poor performance of Umbridge’s assessment. Sybill was extremely upset and a little scared. Where would she go? She was removed from her class room and her things were packed and brought outside, but to her relief, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall were there to back her up and be sure she was allowed her home on campus, but for then not as a teacher. Soon enough, she gained her teaching spot back once Dolores was booted from Hogwarts.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Getting ready for class was quite the event each morning for Sybill. The frizzy haired woman had already dressed herself but had, again, misplaced her wand and glasses. This was typical of the Divination professor; she could be quite scatter-brained. Wand, wand…where had she left it last night before sleeping? The woman racked her memory, and then got on her hands and knees to search the wooden floor of her room for the precious items. It didn’t help she was practically blind without those infamously huge glasses of hers. She’d had them for years; perhaps she’d get new ones soon.
“Oh Merlin’s beard I’ve gone and done it again…lost my wand oh dear, no no no,” the witch muttered to herself as she felt around for the items.
She then remembered, they were on her desk across the room! Proud of herself for recalling, she hurriedly stood up, naturally, knocking her head on the shelf she was looking under. She blinked a couple of times to clear the dizziness from her and then proceeded forwards to obtain her new found wand and glasses. Now she could teach properly!
Sybill made her way from her sleeping space to the Divination classroom. It didn’t take long, the walk was short. She opened her door and then closed it once more so she’d know when someone was walking in. Not that she couldn’t predict it when she needed to, but it was good backup.
Today’s lesson would be reading tea leaves. Thankfully she had gotten that all set up last night since she was running behind this morning. Then again, when wasn’t she behind? She wasn’t the most organized lady in the world. Her desk was a mess, you couldn’t even see it underneath all the papers and quills and junk on top of it. Somehow she managed to not lose assignments.
Once the kids began walking into class she clasped her hands together and stood up. Of course, banging her knee on her desk while doing so.
“Oh! Students, yes, please take your seat. Quickly…quickly please there are things to be done, fortunes to be told…prophecies to be told as well…”
Her tone was direct, but it came out of her mouth rather quick and fast. She tended to repeat herself when she spoke. For being such a smart woman, her speaking habits sure didn’t show it. Neither did her predictions. Well SOME of them were wrong, not all. Syb still belived she was a strong worker of Divination. Even if she had said a student was born in mid-winter when he had actually been born in July… Everyone screws up on occasion… She blinked a few times and focused her attention to the last of the kids entering the room.
“Come now! Sit…sit,” she ushered them. “Class is to begin, children! Do pay attention, Divination is a hard, hard magic to master. Hard indeed…”
