Like the old saying goes, Ash wood is drawn to stubborn, courageous people and Dani is no different. As Gryffindor, she was always brave and ready to jump out into the lead when something amiss happened. She's set in her ways, and refuses to change for anyone except herself. She has a set code of morals she stands behind, and will not let anyone dissuade her. That is not to say that she is harsh or cruel; she is caring, and loves those around her with all of her heart. She would do anything for those she cares for, and hopes they would do the same for her. Face Claim: Michelle Trachtenberg Family: Grandfather: Ciaran Turner Grandmother: Morpheisa Turner Father: Vincent Turner - Head Partner in Turner & Shaffron Law Offices Uncle: Gabriel Turner - Wizengamot Administration Services Prosecutor Uncle: Michael Turner - Junior Partner in Turner & Shaffron Law Offices Aunt: Annette Turner - International Magical Office of Law Cousins: Daniel Turner (18), Maxwell Turner (16), Penelope Eswell (8) Likes: MEDICAL TEXTBOOKS. Dani loves to pick up a large tome full of medical jargon and delve right into it. She can spend hours curled up on her window seat, sifting through all of the terminology. Though she has never had formal muggle training, she still likes to read as much as she can about the profession. She believes understanding both sides of the same coin could greatly help her in her studies at St. Mungo's. HERBOLOGY. It comes with the territory of being a Plants trainee for St. Mungo's, but even before her work, she loved the subject. She loved the dirt under her finger nails, the smell of fresh plants sprouting, and the way the sun glistened through the greenhouse onto the stems of freshly growing plants. She always enjoyed the classes, and Professor Sprout found the most inventive ways to keep her occupied and loving the subject. Dani would wake up some mornings excited for the class later on that day, and she would do her homework the night it was assigned, too excited to wait and with too many ideas clouding her mind. THE HARP. When Dani was younger, she had gotten it into her head that she wanted to play an instrument. She didn't want to play just anything however. She chose the harp because it was different than anything else she had seen others play. Her father hired her a teacher, and soon she was flicking her hands gently over the strings, listening to the clear, flowing music as it came from her fingertips. She was entranced instantly, and soon she surpassed all her teacher could tell her and began to practice on her own. She practices for an hour each day on her own and strives to better herself every time. HUMMINGBIRDS. They're elusive and tied down to nothing. She enjoys sitting in a public place with flowers, or even in gardens and watching them as they flit from flower to flower. Their wings are so fast you can never hope to see them with the untrained eye. She has always tried to get one to perch upon her outstretched finger, but so far has not had any luck. MUGGLE CANDY. Jelly beans are so much like Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans! Except they only have very tame flavors. Dani finds muggle candy to be an enigma she rather enjoys. She tries out a new kind every chance she gets. Her favorite so far are Shocktarts, because they make her pucker her lips and bring shivers to her as she eats them. Muggles have a strange way of making their candy and it takes them longer than wizards, but they taste just as good in some instances. Dislikes: BLOOD PURITY. Dani does not give two shakes what your blood status is. She doesn't care if you are from a muggle upbringing, or a pureblood. She only wishes for everyone to see each other for how they truly are: their personalities, the things that really make them who they are. She dislikes Voldemort and his cause, and if she had to choose she would be an Order supporter more than anything. THE WEIRD SISTERS. She doesn't like the band. People have tried over the years to get her to listen, to enjoy them, but she just waves them off. She thinks their music is boring screeching of instruments and they do not sound at all like what Dani herself enjoys. She prefers more low key, fluid music to what The Weird Sisters produce. PUMPKIN. It's a rather unfortunate fact that Dani is quite allergic to pumpkin. Unfortunate mostly because so many things in the wizarding world have pumpkin in it or using it. She cannot even touch one; she will break out in hives. Instead of pumpkin juice, she usually drinks simple water. It gives her a lot of discomfort that she can’t be like everyone else and have anything to do with pumpkins. If she ever comes across one in her job, she has to do a complicated spell on her that will act as a barrier between herself and the pumpkin. It upsets her greatly that something as small as this plant can throw road blocks into her path. She detests it very much. CELL PHONES. A lot of her family has had a muggle education background. They are well versed in muggle ways and the technology they possess. Dani has tried on many occasions to understand said technology with little to no success. She hates cell phones. She pounds on the little keys and never understands what exactly each function is for, what it does exactly. She could easily apparate to whoever she needs to talk to or send them an owl. Owls are relatively fast in her opinion, after all, and there is nothing she needs them to get in great urgency. If there was she would just go to speak with them face-to-face. JEWELRY. She finds it very unneccessary. Though of course others might disagree and say that it is there for pure decoration, she still does not see much use for it. She prefers to go without it. She has two piercings in her ears and that is it. She wears very simple gold studs in them to keep them from sealing over, but otherwise does not pay them any mind. If you try to get her to wear chunky necklaces or bracelets, she will just laugh in your face. She politely takes them if they are offered to her as a present, but her family knows better than to get anything of the kind for her. She prefers to be free of the adornments. They get in the way of her doing her job anyhow. Personality: Dani is fiercely stubborn. Once she sets her mind to do something, she does not change it. She butts heads many times with her father who had a clear destiny set out in his mind for her and that she disregarded, did not care for. She waved her hand at it and turned away without a second thought. She is her own person and, therefore, does not wish for someone to tell her what she is supposed to be, what she is supposed to do, what she is allowed to become. She's friendly enough, and enjoys talking to people as long as they do not upset her with their beliefs or personalities. She has her own group of friends and wants to keep them close. Even after leaving Hogwarts, she still enjoys owling them to see how they are doing if they cannot meet up. She is loyal to them and would not stand for someone to speak ill about any of them. They each are her friends because of something they did when they were younger that caused her to stick with them and, therefore, she will not listen to anyone badmouth them. She is trustworthy if you tell her something is important enough to keep a secret. It is a good trait to have if you are going into working at St. Mungo's. You must be able to be confidential while at work. With her friends, she will not think about letting slip something unless you mentioned to her it was important enough to keep under wraps. Her mouth sometimes has a mind of its own unless her brain is there to quickly reign it in. She is smart, but she isn't very prideful of it. She does not go about boasting that she is in St. Mungo's or qualified for it. She does not like to go around and tell people of her family's professions or even talk about that subject much of all. She prefers to be known for her own accomplishments. She loves her family even when they do not get along. They are her rock, though she is slow to admit to it sometimes. They are her weakness because she would do anything for them. She does love her father, but they butt heads a lot about her future plans and what she wants to do with her life. History: From her very first memory, Dani has known nothing but law. Her father works as the head of a law firm, and he speaks highly of the profession. It was said from the day she was born her life had been already planed out for her. Vincent wanted her to grow up and come into the firm, to become a part of his world. Dani went along with it at first. She didn't want to turn her father down because she loved him. She knew nothing of law and the legal field, so she fancied the notion in her head and daydreamed about it. She thought perhaps she would give it a go and see how things went. As she grew older, however, she started to realize just how much she disliked the topic of law itself. It was boring and dry. She could find nothing inside of it to keep her attention. Her father spoke highly of it so much that she began to tune it out. She would be listless whenever he talked to her on the subject and of his hopes. Eventually she started to outright ignore him whenever he started on the topic. She had already made up her mind the muggle world was not for her; she wanted to pursue something in the wizarding world. When she received her Hogwarts acceptance letter at the tender age of eleven, she knew this was it. This was what she wanted. She firmly told her father no when he spoke of her doing both, maybe testing the waters, and then going after her law schooling. She did not want to have anything to do with the firm. She was eleven years old and even though she had no idea what profession she wanted to be when she was an adult, she knew it was not what her father wanted for her already. She was sorted into Gryffindor. She loved her house, and was proud as she walked around with its colors on her. She dreamed of being on the Quidditch team, but did not wish to try out for the team. Instead she enjoyed the games as she went to every one to watch and cheered them on no matter rain or shine or snow. She put herself to her studies and scraped good grades each year. When it came time, she passed all of the O.W.L.s required for her now chosen profession: working in St. Mungo's. She had slowly come to the realization that she wanted to help people, that she loved Herbology, and that she wanted to do something with it when she was done with Hogwarts. By Fifth Year she had fully decided upon her path in life and began to strive towards it. She made friends along the way, and she knew that this was the right thing to do, but still she worried about telling her father. Vincent might have still hoped that she would graduate from Hogwarts and then find a way to go to law school. When the summer between her Sixth and Seventh Year came, and she told him her decision, he made it known he was not pleased. St. Mungo's? Not law? It was unheard of by this point. He did not tell her he wasn't proud, and he didn't not tell her that he hated the choice, but he made sure she understood it was not what he had wanted for her. Dani didn't much mind. She went about her last year and ended up getting the N.E.W.T.s required for the job she wanted. She procured said job and was overjoyed when everything began falling into place. This was what she had wanted, after all. A profession outside of law, one that she could enjoy, one where she could forge her own path...
