OVERALL HISTORY:
Evina Sileas is a half-blood, born from a half-blood descendent of the pureblooded Sewlyn family and a muggle-born witch. The Sewlyn family originated in England, but married into Scottish blood when Elisabet Sewlyn married muggle-born Arran Sileas, producing Evina’s father, Saorise Sileas. Saorise, a half-blood, married Ailsa Johnson, a British muggle-born, which later produced Evina Sileas. Technically, Evina is three-fourths British, one-fourth Scottish and is considered a half-blood. Despite her only being one-fourth Scottish, she was raised there until she was eleven, when she was accepted to Hogwarts.
EVINA'S HISTORY:
Evina was born on the Isle of Skye in Scotland twenty-six years ago. Though her mother was British, her family had settled to live in Scotland due to her father’s family. Growing up in Scotland was ordinary, except for the fact that Evina was brought up using magic. Though her parents taught her to respect her magic, they used it in her day to day life. Evina’s first sign of magic was when she was six—she had accidentally set a book on fire when she hadn’t been able to read the word ‘lonely’. Her parents, at first panicked and then excited, hurriedly put the fire out and explained what, precisely, she had just done. Evina fondly remembers crying after the explanation because she had just burned one of her books and thought it was ruined. Luckily, however, her parents had been able to fix it. A few years later, Saorise attempted to teach Evina how to ride a broom, hoping that she would one day want to join the Quidditch team like he had. The lesson had gone well at first, but Evina became scared once she’d lifted off the ground despite her father holding the broom in place and immediately fell over to the ground. It would be many years before Evina got back on a broom, for the experience terrified her.
The summer after Evina turned eleven, she received a sealed letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Evina distinctly remembers that a large barn owl had swooped down and dropped the letter at her feet outside one evening, and later asked her parents for an owl just like it. Her opening of the letter had been a glorious moment, for her parents had told her stories of Hogwarts but refused to tell her what the letter would say once she got it. They’d expected her acceptance, but she hadn’t known to wait for it. Therefore, when she opened the letter, she sat down and felt faint. She immediately recognized that she would be leaving her beloved parents and began to cry. Looking back, Evina found she had always been a gentle hearted child who cried a lot. Saorise and Ailsa then sat beside their baby girl and explained exactly how she would start at Hogwarts and how much fun she’d have. It wasn’t until she was told she could learn all about magic that she calmed down and submitted to a family hug. About a week later, the trio found themselves in Diagon Alley buying, among other supplies, Sammy the barn owl for Evina. It was at this time Evina also received her oak wand with veela hair. She had gotten so many new things that she nearly felt overwhelmed, but her parents managed to pack everything away for her. The Sileas family was moderately wealthy and made their money through owning a tavern nearby in the wizarding world. Evina’s trip on the train to Hogwarts was lonely, for she hadn’t had the chance to make any friends where she lived, and no one came to sit by her. It made leaving home all the more frightening, and once again she cried when she waved goodbye.
The boat ride across the lake is perhaps one of Evina’s favorite childhood memories. She had then met a few other girls, but she learned quickly to leave them alone. They later were sorted into Slytherin. When it came time for Evina to be placed under the sorting hat, she remembered distinctly that her parents had been in Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. She desperately hoped to follow their example and was terrified when she was thrown into unfamiliar territory by being sorted into Ravenclaw. Despite this fear, Evina eventually made friends and enjoyed her time in Ravenclaw house. Several years later, she realized that the sorting hat had not made a mistake, as she initially thought, and instead had started her on the path to her future. Around her fifth year, Evina realized that she had wanted to become a mediwizard for St. Mungos’, and so she researched the requirements and put more effort into potions and transfiguration, which were her worst subject. By the time she had graduated, she had obtained a mixture of O’s and E’s on all of her N.E.W.T.s, thus qualifying her for the aptitude test. That, too, she eventually passed. At age eighteen, Evina found herself enrolled in the six-year schooling process that was required for mediwizards. The on-the-job experience was by far the most thrilling and terrifying thing she had accomplished so far. In Hogwarts, she had been a careful, rule-abiding student. Her friends had gone so far as to call her mouse-like and boring, though she stuck with her. When Evina had finally completed her six-year training window, she was assigned to the fourth floor division in St. Mungos, and had spent three years without incident to herself dutifully doing her job. She was happy, though slightly lonely. Her parents lived in Scotland still, leaving her only her friends in London.
And then, in October in 1996, there was the Battle of Hogsmeade. She hadn’t been on duty when the Death Eaters attacked, but had instinctively sprung into action when individuals began to drop with the pain of flying debris. Though she had never been an experienced dueler, she rushed into the mass of fallen citizens without thinking to protect herself. She had helped many to safety before a building near her exploded, fire licking all around her. Flying bricks hit her hard in the back of the head before they buried her. She was immediately knocked unconscious where no one could see until after the battle. By then, she had bled out from the cut on her head and various gashed around her body. She was pronounced dead upon discovery. Her funeral was merged with many other victims of the battle and, a week later, she was placed in the ground. Around the same time, a hooded figure, ghostly pale but concealed, walked through the graveyard and passed a lit candle over several graves. For many, it did nothing, though for Evina, it meant reawakening. Her gruesome, smothered death had made her a perfect candidate for vampirism, which was exactly what occurred. Minutes after the hooded figure had disappeared, Evina opened her eyes and immediately began to claw her way to the surface. Frantic thoughts followed concerning her incredible thirst and her being inside a grave. Thinking back, Evina doesn’t know quite how she knew she was in a grave, rather she just remembers waking up and having that knowledge. Clawing her way to the surface hadn’t been easy, though once she’d broken it, an old friend had conveniently been there to assist her escape. Upon seeing her transformed state, Jackson Archer had petrified her before she had had a chance to attack him for his blood.
After, Jackson had taken her to a cabin near her house in Oxfordshire and magically detained her there. It was nearly a month before she got a grip on herself, advancing to where she could think of things other than blood and how much she wanted it. In the second month, Evina forced herself to pull together, though often had mental breakdowns, for she had finally realized what had become of her. Even then, she had no control. Being alone in the cabin both helped her self-control and sent her into depression. She thought of all the things she had wanted, including a family, which would no longer be possible. At the same time, she realized how different she was and how she no longer knew herself. Her personality had been warped by her sudden desire for blood, and her gentle nature became buried frightfully deep. It took another month before Evina began to surface as herself again, though the mental breakdowns had continued. All throughout this time, Jackson visited her with gentle words but skeptical beliefs as to her mental health. Throughout these three months, Evina began to realize minor details about Jackson that she hadn’t taken the time to notice whilst in Hogwarts. He, despite his bold and arrogant nature, could be kind and gentle. It was hard to reach such a place, but she found the good in him and nurtured it when she was not nurturing herself. Currently, she still remains in his cabin, fighting to gain a semblance of herself back from the dead.
