OVERALL PERSONALITY: Tonks is a very friendly witch. She tends to make friends with most people rather quickly due to her bubbly and upbeat personality. She is very good at first impressions, and tries to make the person she’s meeting feel as comfortable as possible, opening up to them a bit. Though Tonks is very happy, she is also sarcastic. It’s more of a witty, joking kind. When she’s around her mentor, Mad-eyed Moody, her remarks and quick tongue are usually preceded by his very pessimistic, or odd behaviors and warnings.
The young auror is dead clumsy. She has been known to fall on her face often; obviously she and her feet aren’t the best of friends. As a matter of fact, it almost cost her a passing grade that she needed to have to qualify as an auror. Nymphadora had usually always gotten high marks, even at Hogwarts. But at Hogwarts she was very much a trouble maker, which is precisely the reason she wasn’t given a prefect position in her fifth year.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: The young auror has an advantage when it comes to her appearance. Being able to change any feature she wants, Tonks is able to stay skinny, ad be an average height of 5’5”. She has pale skin and a natural blush. Her cheekbones aren’t so defined, and her most enduring physical quality is her twinkling eyes. They are always able to catch the light. Her lips are thin, and she has a small nose. Her chin is small and doesn’t stick out. Dora’s abilities sometimes take control over her appearance. If she becomes depressed or angry, her abilities will either stop working or her eyes and hair will change color. (Example: red when someone calls her “Nymphadora’.) Her metamorphic abilities are not working, so right how her hair is short and a dull brown, and her eyes are black and lifeless.
Tonks just wants to be comfortable no matter where she is. At work: jeans, a nice shirt, boots and a coat will appease her. Her jeans are usually patched up and obviously worn. She likes to wear big black boots to work, and always tops off any outfit with an overcoat of some sort. Her shirts are usually a dark color and well fitted. Dora has a much more laid back style when she is at home. She is a huge fan of the ‘Weird Sisters’, and has many shirts with their logo on it. She loves over sized tee shirts and sweat pants. Instead of the big boots she wears to work, Tonks will settle for slippers and socks.
Dora does clean up nicely, and does like dressing up. When there is a part she always shows up matching the theme of the party. She loves looking nice, but again, still being quite comfortable. There are two items that will always be on the auror’s persona: her cork-bottle chocker, and her wand.

OVERALL HISTORY: The beginning
Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks was born in Liverpool, England on November 1, 1973 to Andromeda and Theodore Tonks. She was born with a half-blood status, Andromeda being a descendant from the noble hose of Black, and Ted was a muggle born. Tonks would grow up shielded from her mother’s side of the family so she wouldn’t end up hurt, or even ashamed, by her mother’s choices. Though this notion was highly unlikely, Andromeda feared it.
Andromeda had been burned from the family tree once she had told her parents she had fallen in love with a muggle-born and had all intentions of marrying him. She was disowned and would never have contact with her family again. She did feel sad, bringing little Nymphadora into this world with only half a family, but she knew that she had made the right decision marrying Ted.
Ted was very close with his family, and they came to visit him often. Yet, they always seemed to be a bit wiry around him, probably because he was a wizard. His family, as much as they tried to, did not understand magic very well. Ted had always been patient, never questioning why they didn’t understand, figuring he would be quite confused himself.
Anyway, back to Nymphadora. Nymphadora was given her name by Andromeda. Ted chose ‘Andromeda’ after his wife, because Nymphadora looked like her when she was born. Andromeda had just always liked the name Nymphadora.
Within the first few hours of Dora’s birth, her short dark hair had grown down to her shoulder and turned a bubble-gum pink. Andromeda and Ted were both very pleased to discover that their daughter was a metamorphmagus. Though neither had ever seen one before their daughter, they were excited to see what she would be able to do with her special ability.
Childhood (pre-Hogwarts)
The Tonks’ picked up and moved as soon as they could from a muggle neighborhood to a wizarding one, so Dora wouldn’t have to be hidden all the time while she was gaining control of her metamorphic abilities. There, Dora would be safe to play amongst young wizards and witches without the fear of raising suspicion. This seemed to be a good decision, because when she turned one she liked to try and change her appearance when she met someone. Wizarding families had a bit of a weird reaction to her as well, since metamorphmagi were so rare.
As a child, Nymphadora always loved to fool around and have a good time. She easily made friends around her neighborhood, and loved being with the older witches and wizards during the summer. She liked learning about things that they were taught during their time at Hogwarts, especially transfiguration. Hogwarts seemed like such a great place to her, from all the stories she’d heard, and she couldn’t wait to get her letter when she turned eleven. While her mother homeschooled her up until that age, she was always just anxious to get to her future school.
One day during the summer months, she had been playing alone in her back yard, tossing a muggle kickball around and chasing it delightedly. She was anxiously awaiting her Hogwarts letter, and desperately trying to keep her mind off of receiving it. She heard a noise coming from the next door neighbor’s yard. She was about to go over and investigate, but suddenly two people were hovering beside her. Dora looked up at her two friends, Sarah and Dan, who were presently on brooms. They landed next to her with ease, and secretly taught her how to become a really good flier. She was nervous at first, but ultimately became rather good. Flying became her passion, and she soon fell in love with Quidditch, but hid this knowledge from her parents.
****
When she finally got her Hogwarts letter, the young girl was skipping around the house for weeks. One night for dinner, the family of three sat down. “I was in Gryffindor,” her father said and he dug into his steak.
Nymphadora’s eyes widened, “What are the characteristics for that house, daddy?”
Ted Tonks flashed a smile to his daughter, “Bravery.”
Andromeda rolled her eyes and patted her daughter’s hand, “Sweetie don’t get your father excited. I was in Slytherin, myself. Cunning, very sly.”
Nymphadora’s eyes widened. From what she had heard from the kinds in the neighborhood, Slytherin was only for the truly evil people. “B-But mum, you aren’t evil are you?”
Andromeda made a face, but Ted cut in before she could even open her mouth, “The Sorting Hat sorts people very early. Your mother is not evil”¦ Now I never want you to ask that again, clear?” Little Tonks nodded. “Good,” He shook his head, “Then there is Ravencalw. Very bright witches and wizards are there. Finally, Hufflepuff, the reject house.” Ted laughed, “Just kidding, of course. But it’s the most accepting house. They are very loyal.”
As the discussion went on, Dora became unsure of which house she belonged in. It worried her and made her even more anxious to see her house at the same time.
Hogwarts
Shopping for school with her mother had been a pain since all she did was cry about her baby growing up so quickly. There were two stores that Tonks was looking forward to going to: Ollivander’s, and the Quidditch shop. She was disappointed when she didn’t go to the Quidditch shop, but was ultimately more interested with her new wand. She had spent at least a half hour waving the wands in the air at the small shop, but none of them seemed to match. When Mr. Ollivander pulled out a wand that was a triangular shape, and hand a thin handle that looked rather uncomfortable, she was afraid to try it out. The wand worked with her perfectly, and its design and shape reflected her painfully obvious uniqueness.
Finally the first day of school was here. Her mother and father both hugged her tightly and kissed her before they let her go on the train. She waved to her parents as her mother wept on her husband’s shoulder.
Dora, as usual, made friends quickly with a lot of the first years (especially Bill Weasley), showing off her abilities and just being her normal, and bubbly self. Once she was at Hogwarts, she was sorted into Hufflepuff. She made friends with a lot of the tricksters at school, and loved pulling pranks and not following the rules. Her abilities helped her get away with a lot of things since she could change into anyone at all. However, her abilities did tend her get her bullied a lot for being different.
She was a good student all through her Hogwarts career. She loved flying, and took up Quidditch. She was a Keeper on her house team. When Tonks was in the air, that’s when she was happiest.
In her fifth year, she was informed by her head of house that while she was an excellent student, she wasn’t a prefect because she didn’t properly behave herself. This upset Tonks slightly, but she eventually got over it. She had gotten high enough marks on her NEWT’s to allow her to qualify for Auror training, which is what she so longed to do.
Adulthood
Tonks started auror training with Mad-eyed Moody as her mentor. They soon became rather good friends, and Tonks is often very cheeky towards him. She was great when it came to her disguises, but nearly failed her training because she was so clumsy. Not too long after she graduated, Nymphadora met Sirius Back when she joined the new Order of the Phoenix when it was announced Voldemort has returned. Dora is friends with most of the people in the order, and has even developed a little crush on a certain werewolf.
Nymphadora and Remus started spending a lot of time together when they were off duty from their jobs. It soon became apparent that Nymphadora had fallen in love with Remus when she tried to kiss him. He had fallen in love with her as well, but told her they couldn’t be together. Well, Remus Lupin was utterly mistaken if he thought that was the end of it. Tonks’ life began to change drastically, and she was unable to see Remus for awhile because of her work schedule.
After the battle in the department of mysteries, Tonks had a hard time dealing with Sirius’ death”¦. It didn’t help the fact that she had been dueling her aunt Bellatrix and could have killed her first, before she got to Sirius. No one could really get through to her, except for Remus. This pained Tonks even more though, she loved him very much. He kept rejecting her. Soon, Tonks was no longer able to change her appearance. Many thought this was because of her love for her cousin, Sirius, but Molly Weasley was one of the only people to know this wasn’t the case.

LIKES:
- Flying - Being up in the air, no obstacles in her way. That's the way she likes it!
- Her parents - Andromeda (even though she gave Tonks that horrid name) and Ted raised her and loved her, even though the rest of the Black family didn’t. Tonks could not ask for better parents to be there for her, and so she will never do anything to hurt them. She will always be their little girl. Their strength taught her that love it the best thing in this world.
- Remus Lupin - Saying that she like his is a lie. Tonks loves this werewolf with her whole heart, and wants to be with him as much as she wants Voldemort gone. Remus is a lot older than her, and he says he’s too poor and dangerous, but it doesn’t matter to her. She loves him no matter what, and will do her hardest to prove to him she’s not some little girl. But a mature woman, and someone who he could spend his life with.
- Mad-eyed Moody - Her mentor when she was first becoming an auror. He was always very tough on her, and she learned a lot from him. She is not afraid to get cheeky with him is he is being a downer, and is openly fond of him.
- Sirius Black - When she was younger, this man used to play with her a lot. Everything had changed when he was first taken to Azkaban. Tonks grew up afraid of him, and never really spoke of him to anyone. When they met in the Order, Tonks had avoided him at first, but now embraces him with open arms. She loves her cousin to death, and likes having a good time with him.
- Harry, Ron, Ginny, Hermione, Luna, Neville - These kids are strong and that impresses Tonks a lot. She is not that much older than them, so she most likely relates to them the best out of all of the other Order members, and tries to owl them when she gets a chance. She is someone who loves to hang out with the boys, and is an older sister figure to the girls.
- The Weasley's- Dora has been in contact with this rather large family since she and Bill became really good friends in their first year. Molly often helps her with her Remus problems, and it’s said that everyone is supporting Tonks marrying Bill instead of him marrying Fleur. While Tonks would love to be an official member of the family, she doesn’t love any of the Weasley boys like that, and has her heart set on becoming Mrs. Lupin in the future.
- The rest of the Order Members- Tonks basically loves them all, except for Snape”¦. She tries to stay clear of him, and doesn’t like associating with him.
- Sticking up for what she believes in - She will not let someone give their opinion if she can't defend hers.
- Having Fun- Dora is not a kill-joy, she loves going out and having a good time! It’s a major stress reliever for her.
- Pranking people/breaking the rules - Rules? Psh, not for this auror. She's very much a prankster. This trait caused her to lose her chances at becoming a prefect in her fifth year.
- Her jobs - Being an Auror and in the Order are what keeps her going. Without her job to keep her busy, Dora would go insane since she can’t sit still for long.
- Butterbeer - This Auror’s beverage of choice after a long day of hard work.
- Her metamorphic abilities - Meet the master of disguises, ladies and gents!
- Her Comet 260 - Sure, it's not new, but Tonks still loves flying on it all the same.
- Flirting - Tonks is a BIG flirt. It's harmless flirting but a lot of it. Although, when she develops a crush on someone her flirting tends to backfire and she usually says or does something embarrassing.
DISLIKES:
- Her family - The ones that are stuck-up purebloods. Well, you would too if you were abandoned by the 'Noble House of Black'
- Death Eaters- Who in their right mind would want to follow the Dark Lord? No one. Anyone who thinks that he will make the Wizarding World better by getting rid of all muggle-borns is crazy. Without muggles, wizards would eventually die out.
- Her love for Remus Lupin - No, she doesn’t hate him, and that’s the problem. She has fallen in love with a man who doesn’t want her at all.
- Bellatrix Lestrange - The craziest person on this earth who wants Nymphadora dead just as much as she wants Harry. Is she really that angry that her sister married a muggle that she has to take it out on her niece? Apparently so.
- Severus Snape - A mean older man who is unkind to everyone. He constantly glares at Tonks, and even had the nerve to make fun of her patronus!
- Voldemort - The Dark Lord who is making everyone’s life a living hell. People a dropping like flies, and Dora can’t wait until he is gone.
- Being Called ˜Nymphadora’ - Nymphadora hates her name that her fool of a mother gave her. Why on earth would someone name their child that?
- Being Tired - If she’s tired, she becomes very lazy and tries to do her work right but usually fails at it.
- Losing control of her abilities - Currently, Nymphadora is in a big depression, so much so that she can’t use her metamorphic abilities. She can’t just make herself look happy anymore, and she is looking very weak at the moment.
- Her Clumsiness - Falling over everything, the ground is her best friend.
- Loosing - Dora has a very competitive nature, so f she loses she gets very upset. She will give her all too any task that she has to do, but she has to realize that sometimes it isn’t enough
STRENGNTHS:
- Transfiguration - As an auror, she puts herself in the face of danger a lot. Being able to change her appearance helps keep herself safe and unidentified.
- Flying - Nymphadora doesn’t know what it is about being in the air that makes her happy. She says that it makes her feel like everything in the world, all of her troubles, are left on the ground and she doesn’t have to be there with them.
- Non-verbal Magic - Tonks is a gifted witch, and as an auror had to learn how to use non-verbal magic therefore her opponent wouldn’t know what spell she was going to use during combat.
- Knowledgeable - This auror was always receiving high marks in school, as she was able to learn without doing hardly any studying. If it wasn’t for her goofing off, she would have most likely been made an auror. Tonks’ marks were high enough to have her qualify for auror training.
- Hardworking and Persistent - Dora doesn’t rest until she gets her task that she is working on done. She is not a procrastinator and loves feeling accomplished. These two strengths work hand-in-hand since she demonstrates both on a daily basis.
WEAKNESS:
- Remus Lupin/people she cares about - If you are someone close to Tonks, she would most likely do anything for you. Any of her friends and family come first, so goodness forbid they were in danger, she would drop what she was doing to see that they made it out okay.
- Clumsiness- This girl trips over anything, and it almost cost her her auror training.
- Stubbornness- She doesn’t like being told her opinion is wrong, and it takes a lot of proof and convincing to get her to change her mind. Tonks is very set in her ways.
- Snakes- Ever since she was a little girl she always had an extreme fear of snakes. Why, she doesn’t exactly know. It’s just this phobia that popped up out of nowhere.
- Household/basic spells- Tonks can perform complex spells, no problem. But being she’s not neat and tidy household spells are hard.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
The young auror had nothing to hide, and so she did everything that she was asked to do. She became the youngest Order member. Dora didn't care so much about that, though. The main focus was taking down Voldemort quickly and trying to not cause much damage while doing it. But there was also someone else that the Order was responsible for. Young Harry Potter would be returning to his fifth year of Hogwarts. Though, Nymphadora could hardly call him young. By the time she'd get to meet him he would probably have seen just as much, if not more than she had. Nymphadora didn't have a terrible childhood, and most of the dark things she saw was because of her job. She could only imagine what it must be like to grow up with such a troubled past.
Any who, Dora had signed up to be in the advanced guard to get Harry Potter and bring him back to 12 Grimmauld Place. There was a lot of thing the girl didn't like about that house. For starters, it had unnerved Nymphadora at first that the house belonged to her cousin Sirius Black. When she first joined the order, she hadn't realized he was there too, and was very frightened by him. She quickly learned that almost nothing the Ministry let on was true. She liked Sirius now that she had gotten to know him, and often owled him as much as she could. He was the only family on her mother's side that she actually cared about. Secondly, the family tree in the house was rather unnerving as well. You can have your family, but honestly, to not even be recognized on a family tree it because your mother didn't marry a pure-blood was sick. How some people could be so prejudice was beyond her at this point. Then again, wasn't the whole war about just that? Speaking of prejudice, whenever she was in Grimmauld Place she had to be quiet. Rather comical. No? She could barely stand on her own two feet without tumbling over and breaking something. Needless to say she set off the old wench picture screeching a few times because of some of the loud crashes she had made from breaking stuff. For that reason Mrs. Weasley always insisted Tonks didn't help with anything, no matter how much the auror pleaded. She wasn't good at household spells, so any time she could practice she wanted to.
Tonks liked all of the people in the Order so far, they were all kind to her. Accept for Snape, but she didn't exactly talk to him much. Maybe a nod, a greeting, and a smile at most which was obviously returned with a sneer, or as she called it: ‘the Snape face'. Still, she didn't mind. As long as he didn't start acting like a git, Tonks would just avoid him. Needless to say, she was ecstatic when he never stayed for dinner. Was it bad that she almost, /almost/ pitied him? There was something about him that made Tonks feel bad for him, but what it was exactly she couldn't put her finger on it.
Tonks thought's were interrupted. She was off shift from the Order and ministry, so she real had no reason to be on Hogwarts grounds, let alone the lake. But she needed to clear her mind, the lake was one of the places she did that. She ran her fingers through her shoulder-length purple hair, and her dark eyes darted over the water. The sunset was beautiful tonight, almost too good to be true. How could something so pure be in a world full of evil? Such a simple question with a just as simple answer: for everything good, there has to be a counterpart. Tonks looked down sadly and stretched out her legs, her work boots just about to touch the water as she sat close to the edge of the land.
She leaned back on her elbows, pursing her thin lips, a habit she always did when she was in deep thought. If only she could be in that moment forever.. Her life would seem complete; the only thing missing was Remus. She hadn't known Remus Lupin for long, but she knew she had a tiny school-girl crush on him, which she thought was rather funny. Too bad he was a lot older than her. Around Sirius' age. Not that old, but old enough for her to think that she never had a chance with him.
Tonks heard a sound and sat up, "Who's there?" Tonks looked around wildly, trying to see who'd made that noise. Her hand made its way to the wand in her pocket as she held her breath, ready to attack if it was someone she didn't trust.
