MORE TURMOIL By Gwen Diagon Alley, a busy late afternoon like any other. Everything seems peaceful, but is it? Are we, who we walk by these shops every day really aware of our surroundings? Do we even feel obliged to get involved should something happen to our fellow witch and wizard? Or is it the new policy in this land to lay low and hold down our heads, praying the gust of wind will pass us by that could turn into a mighty storm? A number of alarming incidents have come to the Prophet's attention, which we would like to present our readers. Maybe it is not yet too late to start feeling responsible for what is going on around us? On the same busy afternoon this picture was shot, Serafina Baffleton, 43, mother of two children was faced with a rather disturbing scene when entering Quality Quidditch supplies as she told us. Three bulky men apparently ganging up on another young man and a woman. The hatred in their eyes made me shiver. I contemplated leaving right away, for my children's sake. Upon being asked for a statement, the owner of Quality Quidditch Supply sadly wasn't willing to give us any pointers to what might have caused this incident, even though he must have been right in the middle of it. Instead he showed a rather alarming indifference towards the whole subject, stating only: I ordered them to leave, because they nearly smashed my displayed goods to pieces. They left, so I was content. Apparently however, according to reliable sources, the same pair was once again attacked by the same group of rogues only a short time later. Had someone felt the necessity to call for authorities right away, this second attack could have clearly been avoided. They said something like: this is not over when they stormed out of the door, Mrs. Baffleton revealed after repeatedly being asked to reveal more details. I felt sorry fort he other two I hoped someone else would help them out, but I feared to get involved because of my children's safety. Whether or not this violent argument was in any way connected with other disturbing incidents keeping the wizarding community on their toes for weeks and months now has yet to be confirmed. To shed light on at least some of the obcurities in this incident, we would ask our readers to contribute information to the best of their abilities. Anyone having been in Diagon Alley on the allocated date and time, and especially the young pair who has been the victim of these attacks are advised to call in either with the Ministry or the Daily Prophet Office. Those who cannot contribute to the solving of this crime, we would like to remind of their citizen duties as valuable members of the Wizarding Community. Especially in dark times such as these, we cannot allow ourselves to lie low whenever trouble arises. It is our duty to stay alert and do our share so such occurences stay singular. If we don't quench the ugly sparks of discrimination and violence, there is no telling where it might lead us this time, but certainly into a dark direction we never want to take again. LOVE IN THE AIR THE HOGWARTS SOCIAL BALL By Kait [style=width:380px; padding:5px; text-align:justify; font-family:times new roman; font-size:10; color:black; line-height:12px;] Well fellow gossipers this year yours truly had the privilege of receiving an invite to none other then the Hogwarts Social Ball! Always a fabulous event I’m sure we all agree, with those bright eyed young starlets to the Professors and fellow socialites. Dressed in my finest glad rags (for which I must thank Madam Malkin for her canny stitching skills) this reporter was armed for a night of frivolity. And you certainly won’t be disappointed readers! Let’s start with the dresses shall we. My personal highlights were the young Weasley daughter sporting a drop dead gorgeous pale blue number. (and we all know how hard it is to pull off red hair this season) I’m sure daddy wouldn’t have approved at all, her fellow students however seemed bewitched - isn’t it always the way girls? Lets hope the dress didn’t cripple the Weasley funds, we can’t wait to see what she’s got install next. The infamous Harry Potter was looking stunningly dapper! He spent the evening surrounded by a stream of girls vying for his attention and certainly seemed to be enjoying himself. Potter was seen dancing rather heatedly with a foreign beauty my sources tell me is called Eden Russo. Is love in the air for our boy wonder? It seems the cute little boy who lived is growing into quite the playboy! He was certainly the chosen one with the ladies last night. I for one can’t wait for Mr. Potter’s exploits to hit the tabloids. Lock up your daughters. Much to my surprise even the ever elusive Professor Snape (whom I’m sure we’d all like to get a peek of out of those robes) beguiled in a suit. Keep up the good job Severus it’s definitely working! Whether this change in the lovably stoic Professor was to catch some fine witches eye (dare you hope it’s you readers?) we can only speculate, but he undoubtedly got more then he bargained for. With that lets move onto the entertainment. The Weird Sisters were absolutely out shone this event. Love was definitely in the air! Apparently the punch was spiked with a love potion of all things (one has to wonder is Dumbledore letting discipline slip in his old age?). But how much of this is an excuse we have to ask ourselves readers? Charity Burbage (Professor at Hogwarts, muggle awareness protestor and wife to Fabien Burbage) certainly seemed at home in the arms of none other then Severus Snape! Love potions are one thing gossipers, but there’s some chemistry even magic can’t feign and those two had fireworks. But what of poor Fabien? I for one would be happy to offer him a shoulder to cry on. And I’m sure you readers wouldn’t mind if he was back on the market. Only time can tell, but you can bet your socks this savvy reporter will keep her eyes peeled! Auror Nympadora Tonks (daughter of that other Black sister – do you remember her? Neither do we. Any press is press darling readers) was also seen getting cosy with St. Mungo’s worker Alex Garett (a new comer but I’ll let you into a little secret readers I think we’ll be seeing a lot more about that dark horse in this gossip column). Sources report Nympadora ‘tripped’ ontop of him, oh how many times I’ve tried that myself gossipers – sure fire way to a first date. But don’t despair gossipers! While the party was the scene for many new blossoming loves and some scandals I’m sure we’ve not yet seen the end of there’s still many singletons and bachelors out there waiting. I was certainly shocked to see Aurora Sinister (a caramel beauty) and one of the new entrepreneur twin Weasley’s (who I’m told could be a very rich man by the end of the financial year) without a date for the evening. Better act fast readers! Til Next Time Gossipites! Vera Stone Out. AN INTERVIEW WITH HERMIONE GRANGER Who would you say has been the biggest inspiration for you in your life? "It'll sound like a stereotypical answer, but definitely my father. He's a Muggle, of course, and runs his own dentistry firm (that means he started a business that helps clean peoples' teeth), even though people thought he was too stupid to deal with it. Despite expectations, my father rose up and he's now reasonably successful, has my wonderful mother as a wife, and he's very happy. I hope to be like that someday, though not with dentistry." What attracts you the most? What do you look for in a serious relationship? "A lot of people would probably tell you that I look for intelligence, because that's just what they'd assume of me. While I would most definitely never fall for a complete dunce, that's not what I really look for. But I look for commitment. Loyalty. If I know my love has that kind of mindset to me and a relationship to me, I can trust them." Who’s your biggest rival at Hogwarts? "It may sound egotistical, but... me? I'm always trying to outdo myself." You have to go into the forbidden forest to collect a magical plant for potions, who would you want to take with you? "Probably just Hagrid. He knows the Forbidden Forest better than anyone." Who would you say was your best friend? "That's easy. If you don't already know that, you're honestly delusional. Harry, of course. And if you don't know which Harry I'm referring to, that also makes you equally delusional." Who annoys you the most? "There are probably a number of people who could fit as the answer to this question. Hm. This is the toughest question you've asked me yet. How about, to avoid controversy, I just give a broad answer? Essentially, anyone who doesn't take me seriously or thinks they're better than me based on who my parents are. Because that theory honestly makes no sense and is rather stupid, and I have no tolerance for stupidity." What's your study ethic? "I study whenever I can. I'd like to think I have a good study ethic, considering I get such good marks. I work hard to keep them that way." AN INTERVIEW WITH HERMIONE GRANGER AND FRED WEASLEY. How would you describe your relationship with Fred/Hermione? Hermione: "Honestly, it's really hard to put a label on what Fred and I have. But we're most certainly dating, if that's what you were asking. It just doesn't seem right to call him my boyfriend, because he feels like so much more than that." Fred: "My relationship with Hermione? Well, it’s different. There’s no other way to describe it because a lot of people don’t even believe it. She makes me better though, and brings out a great side of me." What do you like the most about Fred/Hermione? Hermione: "He can put a smile on my face no matter how foul of a mood I'm in. But I also love how sweet he can be, because you'd never expect it from a jokester like him. It's just so hard to respond, because everything about him is just... well, it's hard to make the call what I like most." Fred: "Everything. *laughs.* No but really, it’s hard to just pinpoint one thing that I like about her. It I had to pick though it would probably be how brilliant she is. Not every man gets to say that he’s dating the brightest witch of his age." What’s the most memorable memory that you share with this person? Hermione: "I think when we first kissed. I wasn't expecting it at all, but it just kind of happened. But it's the best feeling I've ever had. And it's basically continued ever since, so... I mean, well, there you have it." Fred: "We haven’t been dating all that long for this to be definite. To get sentimental it would probably be our first kiss. That was something I thought I’d never get to do, ya know? Just her reaction was great. I could probably produce a patronus from it alone. *laughs again.*" What gift would you give Fred for Christmas? Hermione: "Honestly? I think I'd try to pull a prank on him. I'm not sure how good I'd be at it, but I think it would make him laugh if I did. But that wouldn't be his present, obviously. A gift... hm. Well, I don't know. I think I'd give him something from the Muggle world, just to throw him off kilter a bit. Something interesting. I'm not exactly sure what it would be yet, though." Fred: "I would probably give her books, because I know it’s something she likes. I’d give her anything really, if it made her happy, but I don’t think she’s that type of girl. Maybe a necklace or something though so she won’t forget me if anything happens…you’re not going to tell her, right? " Who would win in a duel between you both and why? Hermione: "Why on earth would I ever want to duel Fred? I couldn't raise my wand against him even if I was under the Imperius Curse." Fred: "Hermione. I wouldn’t want to duel her in the first place, and it’s kind of hard throwing hexes and jinxes at your girlfriend, right? Plus, she probably knows so many spells that I don’t and has that over me. She’s brilliant. I have so much faith in her and she’d definitely win. " |
