OVERALL PERSONALITY: Astoria is a very chipper person and takes life in strides. While she’s very proud of her family heritage, she tries not to let it keep her from seeing past her own nose and she is very polite to those who talk to her. Her mother always said not to make an open door closed, after all. She has had an easy life and as such is prone to crying when things don’t seem like they’re working out. Sometimes this is due to homework or due to rifts between her friends. She doesn’t really like being shouted at, either. She is rather calculative, though not in a mean-spirited way; she likes to get what she wants and she knows how to go about doing that. She does get stressed out about things, such as homework and grades and, though she doesn’t mention it, the war that she knows is brewing under her feet. She likes listening to other people’s problems because it takes her mind off her own and reminds her that hers can be rather small in comparison. This is often how she makes friends.

OVERALL HISTORY: Astoria is the youngest child in her immediate family and, as the daughter of a well-off pureblooded couple, she has lived a charmed existence. She was the baby and thus spoiled rotten by her parents (though she has a bit of a rivalry with her sister, who can have somewhat of a nasty streak). This is not always evident because she likes to give presents to people rather than to receive them, though she has been known to bawl if her grades aren’t what she thinks they should be or if she feels she’s being ignored.
Her first signs of magic, to the delight of her parents, were when she turned four. She tried to climb up onto the kitchen counter to nab a few cookies from the jar when the chair tilted and overturned. Instead of falling and bruising herself, everyone was surprised to find her landing cushioned.
When she got the letter to Hogwarts and went out to shop for her school supplies, again her parents were surprised and delighted to find her wand was that of alder, which is said to choose witches and wizards destined to be powerful. While initially quite proud of this fact, Astoria soon found it as a source of one of her miseries: she felt the need to live up to the rumors of her wand wood and can at many times feel inadequate to have it.
Her favorite subject in school is Transfigurations because she’s found she’s very good at it and it makes her feel a bit better about her other grades. She also thinks that Professor McGonagall has a great sense of humor, though she doesn’t often let it show. She won’t admit that it’s her favorite class because she’s afraid other Slytherins might make fun of her for it or hate her because she prefers McGonagall to Snape.
