Lucius had been spending the last few weeks trying to get his wife back to being his wife and not a cold body that he shared a bed with, which the fact that they still shared a bed was a minor miracle in of itself, as well as trying to keep his head down without actually seeming like he was doing that. He never disagreed with things that were said during the Death Eaters meetings but he also never went above and beyond anything and mostly stayed silent during them. It might not be very brave of him but it kept him hopefully fairly safe.
Yet somehow he was still summoned by the Dark Lord, his Dark Mark burning slightly as it usually did when he was being called. Lucius was in his study, one of two places that were still 100% his and his alone, well also his wife's. But he had been expecting that the Dark Lord would be calling for him and so wasn’t really surprised at the sensation his Dark Mark called. He gave a long and slightly frustrated breath out his nose before he headed towards where Voldemort held his more private meetings with his Death Eaters, a room that Lucius really hadn’t used much before he was in Azkaban.
As he walked the familiar halls, he worried that the Dark Lord would decide to punish him for managing to get captured during the second Battle of Hogsmeade, though at least he wasn’t arrested like his sister-in-law and her husband, the current poster children of the Death Eaters. Or he would continue to be punished for what had happened at the Department of Mysteries. But Lucius hoped that he would be given some sort of mission to start getting back in the Dark Lord's good graces, or least out of his bad graces, either one would work for him.
He felt odd knocking on a door in his own home but he did so anyway, asking politely, [b}"My Lord? You wished to see me?"[/b] Oh, he was not pleased with not being the Master of his own home but he hoped that it would change soon and he silently vowed to do anything he could to make sure that happened. His wife and son deserved that much from him and he would truly do anything to regain Narcissa's affections and her trust in him, and them as a couple.
