LUNA LOVEGOOD ASTORIA GREENGRASS words 5 2 2 SORRY THIS ISN'T AS GOOD AS I NORMALLY DO FOR LUNA. START POST KILLED ME | It was Saturday, finally, and Luna had the day to dedicate to being outdoors! While the brisk temperature of the snow made others shy away from the wonderland, Luna flocked to the expanse of white as if the very ground that she walked on could chase away the clouds of current events. Hugging the last couple editions of The Quibbler that her father sent to her by owl every week to her chest, Luna made her way out of the castle and across the fields of snow toward the Black Lake. Before even arriving, she knew that it was likely the surface of the lake would be frozen over, obstructing her view of the shifting motions its inhabitants made. Despite this, Luna smiled and continued on, hoping that even if the lake was frozen over, it would be just as beautiful as it was the year before. Though she preferred the water, the thin surface of ice would be rewarding enough for her travel out of the castle. Luna’s navy winter coat that puffed out slightly to act as buffer from the cold was dark enough to cast a visible figure in the snow from quite a distance away, not that she minded. Very few people commented on her comings and goings anymore; it was normally just the usual stealing of her things now. Little footprints left a trail of where she was going, though secretly Luna hoped no one would care to follow so that she could read in utter silence. Really, though, it wasn’t that she minded company, it was often just that company minded her. Jokes and pranks were a common occurrence for Luna, which she expertly let roll off her back or found the better intention in. However, when it obstructed her work or her reading, it became a nuisance and was unappreciated. Pulling her fuzzy yellow hat down over her ears with her free hand, Luna continued through the snow, embracing the way the snow on her face and hands felt like teardrops from the sky. Almost sad, in a way. When Luna finally reached the surface of the lake, she turned around and searched for a tree with roots that perhaps stuck out of the ground. After spotting one, she made her way there and sat upon the root with folded legs, bracing her back against the trunk. It was quiet. So quiet that the silence rang in her ears, but it was also very peaceful. As she had expected, the edges of the lake were white with thicker ice while the rest of the water’s surface was dark with a definite frost freezing its movements above. Looking down, Luna opened the oldest edition of her magazines and began to flip through them, happy to find an update on the minister’s heliopath army, seeing at Hogwarts didn’t possess any information about it in the library – she’d checked. Apparently, the minister continued to deny the existence of his army, but Luna thought he was being overly naïve. Obviously they’d been discovered – why continue to deny them? It seemed rather foolish on his part, really . . . |
