Personality
LIKES:
As a result of being alone most of the time, Virgil became used to it. He is usually seen alone reading a book, or just sit alone, thinking to himself.
TRANSFIGURATION:
It is his favorite subject. The art of turning one thing into something else fascinates him.
ASTRONOMY:
His father is an Astronomer, and he inspired his son to love the subject.
WEREWOLVES:
At first, it seemed to him that werewolves are fearful creatures. But since his third year, after he got a chance to study about them, not to mention his teacher was a werewolf, he realized that they just can’t control themselves during the full moon. He became sympathetic toward the term ‘werewolf’.
HOT DRINK:
Especially in the winter.
JOGGING:
Virgil likes keeping himself in shape. Every morning, he would wake up earlier than others to have a little jog on the school ground.
A FAIR FIGHT:
Yes, he is not the type of person who likes to have his opponent out-numbered, nor the type who would bully younger kids either. A proper duel, however, may interest him.
WINDY DAYS:
He loves wind. That’s all.
THE OUTDOOR:
Being inside a house for too long and he will throw a tantrum.
MINERVA MCGONAGALL:
He likes her method of teaching, the way she handle things around the school, the way she deal with people.
GRYFFINDORS:
Surprised? Unlike most Slytherin, he viewed the Gryffindors as decent people. Sometimes he sees them as worthy opponents to overcome. Sure they can be on his nerves at times, but he just simply let the wind blow it away.
PHINEAS NIGELLUS BLACK:
A Slytherin headmaster! Definitely his goal. [/ul]
DISLIKES:
He doesn’t find it to be necessary. He just can’t understand why people have to classify blood status and stuffs like that then fight each other over it.
DEEP WATER:
He is terrified of deep water. Will explain later.
MOST SLYTHERINS:
He found them to be dumb, cocky bastards.
THE SORTING HAT:
He believes it had chosen a wrong house for him.
ARGUMENTS:
He finds them to be tiring. Thanks to this, he often able to come up with a good way to end an argument.
ALMOND:
Just doesn’t like the taste and smell
SPICY FOOD:
Nothing to be said here…
RAIN:
Rainy days usually give him a sad mood. It is also because he can’t go outside on rainy days.
HIS PARENTS:
Actually, it’s more like he dislikes the way they think. Their point of view is the opposite of his. And he is tired of all the support blood purification things they try to make him listen to. [/ul]
STRENGNTHS:
This boy is usually able to pick up signs that people don’t notice or overlook, which gives him a good sense on a person. Occasionally, he can tell if the person is lying. This ability came from the fact that he mostly just observes people instead of interacting with them. He can also see a little further than a normal person.
TRANSFIGURATION & CHARM:
He studies them seriously, and probably has some talent at them. He had mastered almost every spells he was taught in charm, and performed better than many of his fellow Slytherins in Transfiguration.
COOKING:
Can’t blame him for having a side-talent. He learned to cook since he was 12, watching his mother cook and all.
FAIR PLAY:
He has this strong desire and will to become the Minister of Magic. He would do whatever to get there. But he rather does it the friendly-competitive way, no super evil scheme or stuffs like that. On a side note, Virgil respects his opponent and rarely underestimates them.
SELF-CCONTROL:
He’s good at containing himself. Usually he doesn’t over react.
AMBITIOUS:
He wants to be on the top of the list of everything. And his future goal was to be the Minister [/ul]
WEAKNESS:
Due to an incident when he was younger, he now has a great fear of water that goes passed his hips. Even looking at a large lake could make his legs tremble. (And Hogwarts just has to be surrounded by a huge lake…)
ISOLATED:
He doesn’t like people in his own House, and people in other Houses see him as ‘another Slytherin’ and of course they wouldn’t try to have a chat with a Slytherin. So he really has no one to talk to. He became a quiet boy who hardly said a word. And now, with a complicated choice ahead, he has no one to share his problem with.
NOT GOOD UNDER PRESSURE:
Despite how good he can control himself, he gets stressed out easily. It will make him very grumpy or completely lost on what to do. The O.W.L year was terrible. He even snapped at the Slytherins for being too noisy in the common room when he was studying.
HIGHLY COMPETITIVE:
Imagine that you are sitting next to him. You write faster than him, and he will try to write faster, then you write even faster and he will write even faster than your fast. Yes, that’s how he is.
POTION:
You would think a Slytherin like him would be excellent at this subject. Think again. Not all Slytherins are gifted with potion making. Or maybe it’s because Snape scares him so much he can’t do anything right. We’ll never know… [/ul]

OVERALL PERSONALITY:
The first thing you can notice about this Slytherin boy is that he’s a loner. He is always alone, even back at his home. Too many people around can make him uneasy but he can stand having a small group around. It is because he hates the Slytherins in his Hogwarts house that he has no friend. And being a Slytherin costs him all the potential friendships he could have from others. Eventually, it becomes part of his life and he actually likes to be left alone. This is one of his weaknesses, because he chooses to isolate himself from people. And when he has troubles, he has no one to share with and just bear it all by himself. Also, he is not very good at dealing with people, especially when he has to comfort someone and when he have to work in a group (he tends to do things by himself, not really following the group leader’s idea).
Chosen for the House of the most ambitious and cunning individuals, he does have some Slytherin traits. He would not throw his life away for somebody easily and Virgil is quite ambitious himself. He has high goals, wants to be on top and is very competitive. However, unlike his fellow Housemates, he values the spirit of fair-playing. He wants to beat his opponents in a proper fight, rather than cheating or out-numbering them, which is also one of the reason he hates his Housemates, because they are all the bullying type. He respects those he sees as opponents and uses them as a goal to overcome. He also has the bossy, arrogant way of talking usually seen in a typical Slytherin, thanks to his family’s lovely upbringing.
Normally, he’s balanced. But if he is placed under pressures, such as important exams or tasks, or difficult choices, he might get frustrated easily, even acting out of character and yell at others. [/quote]

OVERALL HISTORY: Virgil Ivan Chapman was born on a delightful day in the house of the Chapman family in Oxfordshire, England. His toddle-age was spent surrounded by his mother and father’s love. It was the best time in his life. They would do many things together, and the boy hardly lacked anything, except for friends. His cousins would come over, but they never got along with him. Millicent was a girl but her size was twice his size and she enjoyed hitting him with toys. His first magic was when he made the toy bounced back at her face. He got scolded by Millicent’s mother but it was totally worth it.
When he was five, his family visited a beautiful lake to have a picnic. They got a small rowing boat to go fishing. When they were in the middle of the lake, his parents got distracted by the magical fishing robs and little Virgil saw a dragonfly. He tried to catch it but fell into the lake and would have died of drowning if his father hadn’t saved him. From then on, he became terrified of water and even refused to use the bathtub at some point. (Now that he’s older, he’s not afraid of drowning in a bath tub, but would still be horrified by a lake)
As he grew older, he began to realize something else. His parents disliked the idea of letting him wander around the area where they lived. In fact, they hired tutors to keep him at home. When he asked, they enlightened him on the term ‘muggle’ and that he should not be involved with any muggle. In spite of his parents’ forbidding, he still snuck out of the house when they were busy for he couldn’t stand staying indoors.
A not so sunny afternoon, Virgil – now eight year old – was strolling along the street. He met a group of kids. They greeted him. Virgil was afraid at first, but then they had a little chat and then the other boys showed him how to play a game. They got along well and when Virgil realized it was time he had to be home before his parents found out that he snuck outside, they all promised each others to be at the same place the next day.
Nothing happened for the few following weeks, Virgil would sneak out to meet his new friends and they would wander the town together, play games, or do funny pranks on the neighbors, even visited their kind-hearted families. But then Mr and Mrs. Chapman found out about their son’s secret. They were angry and grounded him with no more going outside. They also tried to tell him how disgraceful and dangerous it was to associate with a Muggle, basing on their ancestor’s stories. On the outside, the boy seemed to have listened to them, but he found them to be overprotective and wrong. He believed not all Muggles were bad. He still attempted to go outside but got caught again and that made his parents came up with a huge decision.
They moved to Mould-On-The-Wold, where less Muggles could be found. After this, Virgil no longer liked his parents and isolated himself from them, as well as others. Because he seemed to be the only one around who thought Muggles weren’t that bad. And because he hated argument, he never brought up his opinion again. Only until his younger brother was born did he shorten the gap between him and his parents.
His trip to Hogwarts was good, until he realized they have to cross a LAKE to get there. Thus, in the sorting ceremony, he wasn’t trembling because he was nervous but rather because he was still traumatized by the trip across the Black Lake. In his years at Hogwarts, he was shorted into Slytherin and hated the Sorting hat for it. He never enjoyed having his housemates around. To them, he was a weird kid who hardly spoken a word. To him, they are a bunch of bullying, bragging idiots. Virgil was pretty much of a blur to other students too. No one except his roommates, Millicent and the professors knew he even existed. He didn’t mind being a no-name kid and focused himself on studying for his biggest goal in life, to be the Minister of Magic. He had heard about Harry Potter’s story here and there, even witnessed some himself but that was all, although he did get jealous of all the attention Harry got at some point. The Chamber of Secret incident made him realize it was not simply about culture difference and dangerousness that made wizarding people hate the muggles.
So, his school time was boringly the same, year after year. But his family time was horrible. Especially after his Fifth year, after the return of Voldemort and his Death Eaters were officially announced, everything just went downhill. His parents and relatives turned out to be supporters of blood purification and Voldemort. They wanted him and his brother to support it too. He was tired and disgusted of hearing his mother talk about all the glory awaiting him if he followed that path. He knew if he were to voice up his opinion, they would disown him. He disliked their ways, yes, but he also loved them for they were his family. Now he was stuck in between two tough choices. He didn’t know what to do, follow his parents’ will or not. There were times he wished as if he was dead at the lake when he was young so he wouldn’t have to deal with all that.
He was glad he got to return to Hogwarts, where he could be away from all their talking, even nagging, of his mother and father. But then the Slytherins in the common room were concerned about the same thing. He had been asked by a few and had to distract the topic to something else. Slytherins who said they weren’t supporting the idea became target for the pureblooded bullies, and Virgil wouldn’t want his life any more miserable. The whole thing gave him so much pressure he couldn’t focus on his study, even made him lose his sleeps. And there he thought OWLs exam time was bad enough.
Then came the attack on Hogsmeade. He was one of those stuck in the middle of the chaos. It was frightening. He had never seen so much destruction in his life, and for the first time, heard the voice of Lord Voldemort. It terrified him how his parents wanted him to serve that man and how the other Slytherins had lowered their wands for their own life. He didn’t lower his wand, but did run and hid for his dear life. Only when everything seemed to stop blowing up did he come out. After that day, he ended up with several scratches and burns, but overall he was fine.
Lucky, yet sad as it was, he slept through the night Hogsmeade was attacked the second time. Can’t blame him, the room was underground and far away from the village. The next day, he was really shocked to hear the news, and read the details from the Daily Prophet.
