OVERALL PERSONALITY: Alex is a charming, intelligent Hogwarts Professor. He cares for his students and generally will do what he can to help them succeed or listen to any problems they might have. He is very much in love with his wife and can't wait to be a father. He can be a bit passionate, especially when he has a friendly debate with people about subjects he cares about. He is a good, sensible guy but can be a bit gullible and nitpicky, but he is only a perfectionist towards himself. He is rather easygoing and not terribly hard to get along with. He is a fair teacher, showing no favorites but not being overly harsh in his fairness.
He does have a bit of an anger problem and can get easily frustrated. He can be a bit overprotective of those he cares about, especially his wife now that she is expecting. He does often go a bit far in his protectiveness but he does mean well. He is quick to anger but even quicker to apologize and forgive offenses against him.
He realizes that likely quite a few of his female students have slight crushes on him, which he finds rather awkward considering he loves his wife. He is of the opinion that you should be utterly faithful to your spouse, something both his parents instilled in him as a child. Plus, he is over half most of their ages and finds the idea of anything going on between him and a student to be downright creepy and perverted. So he tries not to be alone with a female student.
Yet Alex was rather shy as a child and generally prefers to be alone or in smaller groups. He has mostly gotten over it but there are times when he is absolutely terrified of teaching. By now he has taught himself tricks to get over it, including not drinking caffeine and generally trying to keep calm. There are times when he simply cannot handle crowds and needs to escape, either to his office, his library, or to his home. But these don’t come as often as when he was younger and also don’t last very long. It didn't help that he was a bit more intelligent than many his age, or higher, at school and so was a bit of a loner, though partly by choice as well.

OVERALL HISTORY:Alexander Gabriel Montague was born on a fairly warm early summer day to Peter and Elizabeth Montague. His mother always said that he was a rather easy child and highly intelligent. From a fairly early age, Alex was showing signs of magic, mostly to entertain himself. He had his older brother and numerous cousins to play with but he was always shy and stuck within his own shell, preferring to either play by himself, reading in the library, or listen to the adults' conversations. But he it was no surprise to anyone when he received his letter to Hogwarts.
He grew up during the First Wizarding War but was mostly shielded from the details by his father. Growing up a Half-blood, Alex cared little about Blood Status, something he learned from his father and his keeps to this day. He was in Hogwarts when the Dark Lord was defeated and he celebrated with everyone else, glad to see the end of the War and the real possibility that something could have happened to his mother and he and his brother due to their blood statuses.
He was sorted into Ravenclaw and it became apparent that although Alex was still on the shy side, he did well in his class and had a knack for helping others with their school work. He did fairly well in all of his classes but excelled at Charms, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. His weakest subject was Potions. His fifth year he was made Prefect and seventh he was made Head Boy.
While at Hogwarts, he met his future wife Emma, a lively, outgoing young witch in Ravenclaw and she became friends with him, despite being a year behind him. She was the one who helped draw him out of his shell and pull him away from his books and studies. The two of them started as friends, which developed slowly into love and they married soon after she graduated.
After graduating from Hogwarts, Alex went on to gain his wizarding teaching license. He spent a few years as Charms tutor to get his feet wet in the teaching world. Eventually he was hired as the secondary Charms professor and then made Ravenclaw Head of House two years ago.
Now he is expecting his first child and hopes that this war will end soon so his child will grow up safe. But he isn’t sure how much he can do to help.
