Staring helplessly at the amount of paperwork on her desk, and feeling the slight twinge of her midsection as she shifted restlessly in her chair (her second subjection to the Cruciatus Curse had been relatively more painful than the first, considering this time she’d actually broken a rib this time around, and the dark magic had prevented it from completely healing properly), Andrea decided that, for tonight, it was time to call it quits.
Quite technically, she wasn’t even supposed to be in today, and she was fairly sure the head of the department had given her a dirty look upon seeing her clock in, but Andie honestly hadn’t cared. The riot in Diagon Alley had sparked practically a waterfall of paperwork to pile up on the Auror Department, and by default a majority of the boring filing work fell to the junior members of the department, like Andrea. And so the pile that had developed on her desk over the course of only a few days was downright disgraceful. Upon entering her office this morning, she had sighed sadly and had simply sat down at her desk and had dutifully started working.
Her security detail at Hogwarts had been temporarily put on hold, due to the broken rib and the fact that work at the Ministry had picked up recently, or at least the amount of paperwork that had to be dealt with. Also her recently assigned Francis Morel case was starting to eat up a lot of her time - late nights doing research and also tails trying to track him down in Knockturn Alley and other various shady portions of the wizarding world. But, there wasn’t any reason for Andie to be unhappy or displeased… she was still extremely happy every time she thought about the fact that she had finally earned enough merit in the department to actually get a case. Despite the fact that she technically had partners in the Investigations Department, Andie was determined to solve this case as fast as possible. She was the ambitious sort. If working on her own furthered her own position, then of course she was going to do it.
With a sigh, she pushed the last of the papers aside, frustrated, determining that she was going to just finish her filing work tomorrow, when she was really supposed to be working. For now, she needed to take a break, head home, and maybe go out for a few drinks at the Leaky Cauldron. Pulling her cloak over her shoulders and tucking her wand in her pocket, she headed for the Atrium.
A little less than a half-hour later, she found herself wandering the main street of Diagon Alley. The sun was going down and many of the businesses were starting to close down, and the last of the shoppers were either getting ready to head home or already were. It was hard to believe that just a few days ago, this place had been insane with werewolf rights activists. Rubbing her midsection absentmindedly, her thoughts were of course starting to cloud her mind, to the point where she was hardly paying attention to where she was going… and accidentally crashed into someone who was clearly going the other way. ”Oh, Merlin, I’m so sorry, I wasn’t-“ Andie paused, realizing just who it was that she’d bumped into. ”Wilson?”
