Shae buzzed around her new office in a flurry of robes and wand waving. The past week had been pure chaos. With a typical teaching contract there would be time to adjust, plan, and prepare. Then again Shae’s arrival at Hogwarts was anything but normal. It had only been a few short months after the December attack on Hogwarts when Shae had approached Dumbledore about a possible staff position the following year. Her focus had been Astronomy for the past eight years but if it meant residing once again at Hogwarts she would have taken any opening. Luck was with her though and after countless years of tenure Sinistra found a need to escape the school, and possibly even the country. Over that past few years, and the multiple attacks growing in number and proximity, Sinistra felt safety was no longer possible with her position. She was eager to leave and find sanctuary far from England’s wizarding war.
Needless to say when someone with Shae’s training popped up looking for a position, Sinistra jumped at the opportunity and barely stayed long enough to provide the remainder of her lesson plans before taking the soonest portkey out of the country. Left slightly dazed and elated Shae hastily packed up her flat and headed back to Hogwarts with all the excitement of a first year.
It was her journey back to the ancient castle that brought her to the flurry and waving. She never realized the sheer amount of stuff she had accumulated over the years until it was flying around her head, zooming into shelves and into cabinets. A moving model of the solar system almost knocked her in the back of the head as is spun to hang from the ceiling, swinging violently before settling. Shae paid it no heed, already moving on to a bouncing line of books that followed her sweeping wand to slide into a neat line among one of the many bookcases that coated the walls.
Spinning on her heels, she watched as the last few knick-knacks arranged themselves neatly on her desk. The office was a small intimate workplace, perfect for one on ones with her students. The room was rectangular, bookshelves lining parallel walls, low cabinets trailing the rear wall with a row of tall windows facing out on the school grounds. Her desk was situated facing the entrance, placing her back to the windows, with two lounge chairs facing in towards the front of her desk for any guests. The usual Hogwarts stone floor was covered in overlapping rugs of all sorts of different designs creating a cushy walkway. Along with solar system model, various three dimensional star charts hung in midair, some attached to hooks and rope, others floating in orbit magically. Since the sun had set, moonlight came through the windows bathing the metallic instruments in an ethereal glow. It was the perfect setting for an Astronomy office, the entrance opening out to the base of the astronomy tower steps. Since all of her classes were held there on the tower it was awfully convenient. Shae let out a heavy sigh before collapsing into her seat with a tired smile gracing her lips. Hogwarts was her new adventure, and she had an itching feeling that, despite all the chaos, it had just begun.
