Dear H&H family,
I've received the message sent out by the Staff, and registered its contents loud and clear.
I apologize if my lack of activity has inconvenienced the site, but, frankly, I cannot apologize for actually being inactive.
I notice there are lulls in most people's activity, having had to wait a considerable time to receive replies to posts, and often signing in and seeing no activity in the c-box. And that's OK, life gets in the way sometimes, and most folks make a quick "heads up" as to why they'll be in and out.
I have not had the privilege to do so, given my work and master's program. I know "work" is a perpetual excuse, but, I live in a tropical developing country, not in Europe or North America, and thus my line of work in conservation has literally become my life, with the objective of saving the natural resources my country depends on for its economy and culture.
As such, it gets priority. I often have free time where great ideas for plots, threads, and replies for H&H start formulating in my head, but it is quickly overridden by thoughts for important projects my organization could carry out in the name of conservation and environmental education of our children.
The past couple weeks I have been consumed in juggling all this, plus preparing for a two week trip in New York, to give lectures on the very work my organization does, as well as fundraiser for the completion of vital projects that will improve both the livelihood of the wildlife we care for, as well as the educational impact we can provide.
I disappeared once before from H&H when it seemed to have gone indefinitely quiet. Harry Potter has always been a vital part of my childhood and my life, but, I will have to take a sabbatical once again.
I know the message sent by the staff was completely reasonable, and not meant to be combative, but it still got to me, and made me slightly defensive. With that in mind, it is best I leave. I don't delude myself into thinking this will impact the site in any way other than making McGonagall available once more, but I felt, this time, I owed the site an explanation as I make my exit.
It's almost a year now since I found you all, and I have had some wonderful times as part of this little world. I hope to return when I have managed to get my affairs in order and can more efficiently managed my time. For now, there is wildlife and a country that needs my time and energy.
All the best to you always,
Gabe
