what would i do
without you in my life
The morning had been relatively quiet at Malfoy Manor, which was not something Narcissa Malfoy was accustomed to anymore. The flow of unwelcome guests was usually heavy and set Narcissa's nerves on edge. They all mistreated her beloved home and took advantage of the fact that the Malfoy's could not refuse them in any way. Their fall from grace came with a high price and punishment. They had to sit back and watch as their home, the place her son had grown up in, was ravaged. It broke Cissy's heart.
So, the unusual quiet was welcomed by Narcissa with open arms. She had spent most of her morning wandering around her home while the few elves the family still owned followed in her wake, repairing what their mistress told them to. It felt normal, like any other day before the Dark Lord's fill return. Narcissa craved those days and memories. Her son had been safe and unmarked and her Lucius had been revered within wizarding society. Her family meant everything to her and seeing the two people she loved most suffer day in and day out was almost more than she could bare.
When Narcissa came to her husband's study, she paused. His study was one of the few rooms within their home that had remained untouched by the Death Eaters. After their home had been invaded, Narcissa had taken every precaution necessary to ensure some parts of the Manor were left alone. Her bedroom, the study, and Draco's room where at the top of that list. They were the only places in the Manor that any of them could go to for reprieve, no matter how brief.
The door was closed and she wasn't sure if Lucius was inside or not. She hadn't seen him since waking up that morning. Pushing open the door gently, Narcissa stepped inside.
